We’re Back!

by Caroline on January 16, 2012

As you can see in the photo above, Zac’s and my vacation out to the Bay was completely wonderful. We enjoyed the sunniest weather (for San Francisco), the rarest foods (for Palmyra, VA), and the most hospitable, warmest, and best friends.

We also wallowed around in the unacceptably indulgent luxury of not having to take care of animals, or, for that matter, anything at all. This was, obviously, our first vacation that wasn’t dictated by the academic calendar.

We walked up and down nearly every hill in the city.

We watched the sun set,

and the moon rise.

We spent many lovely hours wandering up in the Berkeley hills,

marveling that people get to live here!

We also went up north on a fantastic brewery tour with our friends, and very methodically sampled nearly FIFTY! varieties.

This trip took us up along Highway One,

and through some beautiful redwood forests, next to which we made this friend, a Columbia yearling ewe.

And of course we walked out to see the edge of the world. I’d never seen the Pacific before.

We came back more rested, relaxed, and happier than ever. And, to be honest, it seems like 2012 has only just now begun. There are so many exciting things in store!

Welcome back guys! The SF area is one of my favorite places in the world, and it looks like you had a fantastic time! =D

Good relaxation is paramount for being able to work hard IMHO.

Welcome home! SO glad you two got some time to relax and decompress…and in San Francisco no less! I know Susie missed you!

That area is one of my favorite places ever…I so love the coast line there and the Pacific Ocean is so beautiful. Your pictures are wonderful!!

Your lovely pix reminded me of my many trips to the other coast. Having grown up near the Atlantic, I remember how different the Pacific looked and how surprised I was by that! Any time I think of moving out there I remember that one day it will fall into the ocean and then I’m happy to just visit SF and surrounds.
Thanks for sharing.

It’s been a few years since I was out there on the left, but it is one of my favorite places to visit. Looks as though you all had a great visit. Isn’t it great to have a little break once in a while? It always makes me come home with renewed enthusiasm for my animals and way of life.

OMG, you guys were right in my backyard! (I live just about halfway between the Russian River Brewing Co. and Lagunitas.) Isn’t it wonderful? I’m so glad you enjoyed it & that we had beautiful weather for you.

The unspoken secret of living here is – we’re all marveling right along with you! Took a 20 minute drive (well, motorcycle) from the house to Muir Woods this morning, and in the end just stared out to sea and wondered, “And why would we ever leave here?”

We couldn’t think of a single reason!
