Meet Findley

by Susan on April 2, 2011

Before I tell you about our new lace weight yarn, I want to say a few words about our partners in this little yarn adventure. I mentioned yesterday that the learning curve on this project was steep. In addition to designing three lines and creating color stories in 12 shades for each line, KFI allowed us to design all the materials that go along with the yarn, including the label and sales materials.

There were a million emails back and forth- we’d never done this before, after all- and the staff at KFI had infinite patience with us. They were incredibly helpful, never laughed at our rookie mistakes and or showed any frustration. I am so happy to be working with Sion, Jeffrey and all the other good people who work for KFI.

But back to the yarn. Findley is our lace yarn, 50% Merino 50% Silk, 100% luscious. At nearly 800 yard, you’ll be super happy that it’s in a ball, rather than a hank you have to wind! The yarn is super smooth with a beautiful sheen. It’s soft, doesn’t split and it feel A.MAZ.ING when it’s knitted up.  And it comes is 12 lovely colors.

Midnight, Renaissance, Bittersweet

Bloom, Fresco, Atmosphere

Byzantine, Crocodile, Poppy

Hyancinth, Graphite, Serendipity

Tanis has designed ten lace patterns for Findley that totally knock me out. Gorgeous sweaters, gorgeous accessories. You will want to knit them all!

Come back tomorrow for a peek at our worsted line!

OMG, these are GORGEOUS. I love the pinky shades: Bloom, Renaissance, Serendipity. And Bittersweet. Oh, and look at Graphite….sigh….

Two different colors named Bloom, huh? I’m guessing the orange one has a different name, actually …

Looks completely luscious, though!

Oops! All fixed. Thanks for the heads up!

Well done on those colors–they are really gorgeous.

Anna April 2, 2011 at 7:44 pm

Oh gosh. I have a strong desire to weave with this. Wonder if it would be too “stretchy”. Hm….guess I will have to wait to SEE and FEEL it. Then what color…..one of each thankyouverymuch.

Jenny April 2, 2011 at 8:06 pm

Crocodile is my favorite color, ever.

Lorien April 2, 2011 at 8:08 pm

So beautiful and can’t wait to see Tanis’ patterns – she is such a gifted designer. When can we purchase?

Lauria April 2, 2011 at 8:16 pm

I’ll take one of each, yes please! (Ummmm would it be terrible to spend all of my inheritence money on yarn??)

Vismajor April 2, 2011 at 8:18 pm

I can’t wait to get my hands on some of this yarn. It looks like my perfect laceweight – lately silk/wool is all I covet, yarn-wise!

Beautiful, can’t wait. Renaissance or Atmosphere? But Crocodile is a gorgeous green. How to choose. When is this going to be available?

Leigh April 3, 2011 at 9:03 am

Beautiful! I love the colors. And its in balls—Thank You! Winding lace can take me as much time as knitting the project.

Megan April 3, 2011 at 11:39 am

Oh, how beautiful! I’ll take one of each, please.

Carol April 3, 2011 at 6:38 pm

WOW—you outdid ourselves with that lace colors. They look absolutely luscious. I hope word comes soon as to WHEN and WHERE we can get our hands on them…

I want to tell my local shops that these are a MUST to stock…will you be also selling them on your own website??

GrandmaTutu April 3, 2011 at 6:47 pm

Wow, the colors were gorgeous on my cell phone, but they’re even prettier here!! I can’t wait to try them all! More sock kits coming up!! xoxo

Hey, guys…Findley yarn looks great. Couldn’t find it in your “store”…How can someone actually BUY some???

Melissa Savoy (She Crochets) April 4, 2011 at 11:10 am

LOVELY!! I have not mastered laceweight yet – neither in crochet nor knitting. It intimidates me. But with colors that lovely, I just may have to!!

cysiphist April 4, 2011 at 5:01 pm

Love them! I’ve yet to knit a lace-weight project, but Renaissance, Bittersweet, and Crocodile are all calling to me.
