Giveaway Friday and a Big Announcement!

And All The Inappropriately Capitalized Words That Go Along With Both Of Those Things!

Today we are super excited because we’ve been keeping a TIGHT lid on this one. Well, actually, we really haven’t. It’s been leaked, hinted at and even alluded to left, right and center. But now we can officially tell you all about our exciting new collaboration with Anna Branner of Anna Branner’s Cloth n’ Clay!

Thanks to the suggestion of one of our favorite aunties of all time, Lauria, we approached Anna, who as you already know from a Giveaway Friday from a few weeks ago, makes absolutely beautiful pottery, and asked her if she would make us a line of JMF specific yarn bowls and mugs. We were so excited by this it felt like we were asking her to marry us. Well guess what?

She said yes!

So here’s what she’s made for us.  First, lovely, beautiful yarn bowls with the JMF logo on the front:

What’s so awesome about these hand made yarn bowls is that each one has a little something special and completely unique on the back.  You won’t know what you’re getting, but it’s guaranteed to be adorable and a half!  Here’s a little sneak peek of what you might find if you order one:

(and my personal favorite)

Charlie Peeg!

There are others, too, of course, I just wanted to show you a few.

The other thing Miss Anna has for us are her beautiful coffee mugs:

I love them!  What’s especially great about these coffee mugs, and you wouldn’t necessarily know this just by looking at them, but you can ALSO make TEA in them! So, let’s say coffee isn’t your particular drink, that’s just fine!  These mugs make tea and coffee taste equally wonderful.  You know, I don’t want to incite any riots here, but I’ll bet if you were a hot chocolate fan…  no, I don’t want to press my luck here.  But I’m just saying, you could try it.

These lovely mugs and yarn bowls are dishwasher and microwave safe, and currently waiting for their forever homes.  You can find them in our shop and pick out one of your very own.  In addition, Anna will be at shearing selling the yarn bowls, mugs AND the little sheepies in person.

Now yes, this is Friday, so don’t you fret lil campers, we are prepared like Boy Scouts.  To kick off this exciting new collaboration, we are giving away a mug AND an adorable little sheepy for one lucky winner!

To enter, go to her blog and answer this question, “If you could sit down to a hot beverage of your choice, with any one person (living or dead) who would it be and why?”  *NOTE:  Some people are having a problem commenting on Anna’s blog.  If you have a problem with that then please just leave your answer on ours.*  Then come back here and tell us what else you want Anna to make for us (cereal bowls, anyone?)  A very lucky winner will be chosen randomly on Monday and will be drinking their hot drink of choice within DAYS!  THAT COULD BE YOU!!

What a great giveaway! I entered on Anna’s page (my choice would be Jane Austen!). Thanks again :)

JMF (Jill) April 9, 2011 at 11:38 am

I’d like to sit down with my husband and drink coffee (should do this more often). I would like to see little round knitting needle tops with your logo on them. :)

Mary Leverette April 9, 2011 at 11:53 am

I love Anna’s work…I want one of everything on her blog! I would like Anna to make some flower pots with the logo so I can have a flock of herbs growing on my countertop!

cysiphist April 9, 2011 at 12:13 pm

Wow – those are great! Entered over there, but I had to say. I might just need one of those mugs!

Wiesie April 9, 2011 at 1:32 pm

i’ve been back to the site 6 times to gaze at these lovelies. I sent the link to my husband, thus marking the first I’ve been coveting a yarn bowl since I first saw one on your site and I don’t know if this is the same potter, but I’m smitten.

Beautiful work would love to have a cup of coffee or tea in mug and be knitting with the yarn bowl.

knitmomma April 9, 2011 at 2:32 pm

Those are beautiful!!! I would love tall mugs, and bowls…maybe big bowls for arraigning handspun yarns for display, or holding fiber and a spindle?

I commented on Anna’s Blog.

Lisa April 9, 2011 at 3:00 pm

I couldn’t comment there, so here it is!

I would love to have a cup of tea and visit with Dr. Jane Goodall. She’s been my hero for years, and I’ve been fortunate emough to meet her a few times.

roseknits24-7 April 9, 2011 at 4:23 pm

I’d most like to sit down with a mugful of hot cocoa with my father.
He died when I was little…and I still miss him.

roseknits24-7 April 9, 2011 at 5:14 pm

Adding ps, since I can’t edit…what else could Anna make?
(Besides more sheepies?!) Seconding Mary’s flowerpot idea…
maybe three on a little tray, for a little windowsill herb garden?

Elizabeth Woodford April 9, 2011 at 5:47 pm

I entered and am holding my breath because there is nothing I love more than my mug of tea every morning, and those little sheepies are to die for.
Thanks for the chance!!

Barbara Stoner April 9, 2011 at 6:47 pm

Oh I agree with the three small flower pots for a indoor herb garden.
I saw a yarn bowl on Anna Branner’s site with a bee hive. LOVE that.

Sondra Ives April 9, 2011 at 8:18 pm

I entered. Love that precious mug. Sitting knitting and sipping tea from that mug would just be delightful.

JCB April 9, 2011 at 9:17 pm

I would love a cup of tea with my Mother.

Linda Mills April 9, 2011 at 9:30 pm

Could not post on Anna’s blog :(

I would love to sit down with one of Anna’s lovely coffee cups with my Mother who has past 4 years now. I truly miss our long conversations we use to have.

I think an ice cream bowl or even a popcorn bowl would add to her collections :)

Thanks for finding her.

Deb April 9, 2011 at 9:46 pm

It would be great if Anna could do all the animal at the farm.

Evie April 10, 2011 at 10:15 am

These are wonderful. Would love Anna to make bowls for cafe au lait or cereal.

Inkdarkmoon April 10, 2011 at 10:31 am

I couldn’t comment on Anna’s blog.
My answer to her question is I would like to have tea with Jesus and hear all about his life and times.
I would like Anna to make the little sheep figurines for the shop.

Joanne April 10, 2011 at 10:50 am

How about bowls with lids, covered vessels, or a platter? I entered on Anna’s web site but am not seeing the post..wondering of I am having a problem..
if so here is what I wrote…
I read aloud Friday’s posting to my husband. Wihtout a pause he replied, “coffee, you, love”. I am a lucky woman!

Thanks!

Hillary W. April 10, 2011 at 11:03 am

Chai with Virginia Woolf. I want to talk to her about writing and how far women have come since her time (as where to go from here).

Definitely cereal bowls!

Jodi Renshaw April 10, 2011 at 11:19 am

LOVE these … and am wondering if you sell wholesale to brick & mortar shops?

Also – I entered the giveaway :)

Debbie April 10, 2011 at 1:17 pm

Hi – not sure if my comment made it onto the other site, but I tried as a googler. I would love to sip Irish Breakfast Tea with Thomas Jefferson — as a double hoo and resident of Charlottesville for over 20 years, it would be fascinating!

And I would love some bigger-than-soup-bowls, I guess pasta bowls, or as I named them so my husband would let me buy them, Chinese Food bowls!

I would have Eleanor Roosevelt to tea. Why? Her quote “A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water”, has always amused me.

I second a larger bowl, more like a pasta bowl. We use the few we have for everything..

KatyaR April 10, 2011 at 11:09 pm

I entered! I love to see a sheep-themed canister set, or a cookie jay!

M J April 10, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Small dessert-sized plates would be nice.

kim April 10, 2011 at 11:56 pm

I would love to see nice big mugs with lots of cute sheepies on them, and I agree with everyone asking for bowls, for soup, ice cream, pasta, whatever makes you happy!

Catherine April 11, 2011 at 1:05 am

I wasn’t able to add a comment on Anna’s page. Her pottery is charming and it would be perfect to have a special cup of tea with my mother who died when my two oldest children were little. We would certainly have a lot of catching up to do!

Megan April 11, 2011 at 5:07 am

Wow! I love this pottery…love love love.
I could totally use a vase- a really nice flower vase. Or, a butter dish. Because butter is amazing.

I couldn’t get posted up on her blog, but I would love to have tea with all of my grandmas!

Traci April 11, 2011 at 6:29 am

I entered and Id love to have a Jmf coffee mug that fits the reusable lids. I have one that I use all the time.

Meganwf April 11, 2011 at 8:26 am

I adore handle-less mugs as I sooner or later crack the handle off anyway. Some look like squat thick wine glasses and that works too!

sara April 11, 2011 at 6:10 pm

large and i mean large mug for coffee or tea
