(Technical Issues have been resolved! Please go post on Lisa’s blog now. Thanks!)
Hey folks! Welcome to another Giveaway Friday!
Today’s giveaway is sponsored by Union Street Fiber, owned by our very own Lisa Stockebrand (lasdcm on Ravelry).
Lisa is giving away this beautiful skein of yarn, handspun Cormo from Juniper Moon Farm – 4.4 oz, worsted to heavy worsted weight, about 150 yards.
But wait, there’s more! She is also giving away this adorable set of her Smart Stitch Markers
Do you see how cool they are?! They tell you where in your knitting you are! It’s brilliant!
To enter the giveaway, you need to complete the following tasks. Be brave of heart, and clear of mind (I’m such a dork):
1. Go to Lisa’s blog and post a comment answering the question”What would you do with 150 yards of hand spun yarn?”
2. Come back here and comment, telling us what the best part of your week was.
Winners will be chosen randomly and will be announced on Monday’s post so you have until midnight Sunday night to leave the comments.
Good luck and thanks, Lisa!

The best part of the week was staying home and watching the snow fall with JimWeaves2.
The best part of my week was finishing therapy for my shoulder today. Second best part was a week of no snow …
The best part of my week was having my kids home for a snowday- made cookies, played games, watched silly tv.
The best part of my week was when one my my students said “this is the best day of my life”
(I teach kindergarten and we were having a snowman party)
My weekly tennis fix on Weds. mornings on my day off. And getting in some knitting while doing the laundry after that.
I have been very ill for weeks with pulmonary issues that are showing signs of improving. I can’t wait to start working on a project.
The best part of my week was just having some fun time hanging with my kids yesterday during the snow day – knitting with my daughter and helping my son get hs “man cave” ready in the cellar.
Love this giveaway. LOVE! The best part of my week was meeting fellow shareholder/new friend Laurie aka Gaelee who was in MD on business and arranged to meet with me. Like most of the aunties I’ve met, we got along right away and had two great visits. Given my recent job loss (laid off after 11 years with my company!) I needed that in the worst way.
The best thing for me this week was when I realized that the brain fog from stress has gone away. I no longer work there. This week I did not wake up at 5:00 thinking I would be late for work. The last day I worked was in October.
The best part of my week was Tuesday afternoon- right after my root canal was over with!
Be best (and only good) thing about this week was that being cooped up inside with all the snow I was able to get a lot of knitting done.
The best part of my week was going outside in the crazy snow at midnight and play!!!! Loved it
Thursday morning in New York City with 19 inches of snow: email check-in confirms that all of my meetings for the day have been canceled. Turn over and go back to sleep without guilt!
No brainer this week. I found a scarf I knit early this winter with some of the most wonderful cotton yarn in beautiful dark tones. I called everywhere I could think of that I had been and decided it was gone forever. The yarn was the last one of it’s kind in a sale basket, too. I had finally resigned myself to someone else hopefully enjoying my currently favorite scarf when it just appeared around the neck of a rarely worn jacket. I wrapped it around my neck and wore it all day!
I finally found time to start a wonderful sweater that is knit from the top down. Another great moment was finding a bookcase that I needed for $10.00!
Best part of this week? Teaching my knitting club kids how to purl! I’ve got one making her first pair of mittens, another working on a baby blanket, and the other two making scarves. They range in age from 9 to 12, and they’re so excited about knitting!
The best part of my week was finding out that I can stay in my current job after July. Still need to find funding for my research…….but I will not be out on the streets.
Hmmm….the best part of my week was probably my successful 3 mile run on Thursday. We had beautiful weather and my body was cooperating with me so it all just felt right.
The best part of my week was watching my students (who are at risk) succeed in some of their finals – the self confidence that some are starting to develop is a beautiful thing to see!
The best part of my week, surprisingly, was knitting related! A dear coworker (and expert knitter) is leaving us to live in China, and in her last few hours at work, she solved a major knitting problem for me– I’ve been knitting into YOs wrong for 6 years! The worst part of the week was trying to safely navigate yet another massive snowstorm, and not getting a ‘snow day’ from work to stay home and knit with those corrected YOs!
Best part of my week–getting snow tires. I’ve always wanted to try them.
The best part of my week was leaving work. I work in an environment of coercive management and the yelling and condescension has reached almost unbearable. Almost 14 years and I’ve done well, but there is more to life than what this company does. And I have so much more to offer to an entity that needs and appreciates me.
The best part of my week was that my boss was kind enough to let me off for the day without penalty after being in a fender-bender that morning.
I would have to say Thursday and Friday, two days of the week this week we did not not have MORE snow added to an already incredible amount here in Massachusetts.
The best part of my week was our snow day (Thursday) — we worked hard, shoveling and clearning off our cars from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., but then discovered that we didn’t have to go to work. Woohoo! It was lovely just being able to enjoy the snow.
The best part of my week was today, Trail riding with my DH and then we started halter breaking our 2 month old Jersey/Scottish Highland heifer, it was a great day to spend outdoors with DH and the critters.
THe best part of my week was when an unexpected box of yarn arrived from gotYarn.com. It was an early Valentine’s present from my hubby – koigu! Yum! (To be fair, I had asked for it for my B-day, Xmas and anniversary. He finally got the hint.)
The best part of my week was hearing that one of my friend’s husband who suffered a massive heart attack 3 weeks ago is doing great and moving to a rehab on Monday.
Today is a beautiful day. Sunny & bright 71 degrees at 4;30 pm. My sister and I drove to one of the rivers to look for eagles after our knitting group. We took my dog Joe with us. I think I saw 2 while we driving. We were gone about 3 hours.
Best part of my week was giving away a scarf to one of my dear knitting buddies just because she said she liked it. Made my day!

2. we had mondo snow so i got to play outside with my Cairn terrier and pretend i was 9 again
3, I treated myself to a MacBookPro because i deserve it for surviving last year’s life crisises.
I got to take my daughter to her first Shakespeare play. She slept through most of it, but thought highly of the music. It was incredible to share something that’s special in my life with her!
I would have to say, the best part of my week was this last Wednesday. It was my husband’s 31st Birthday. A special day of the year I get to be an even better wife. He woke up to an extra delicious cup of coffee followed by breakfast in bed. His gift was a homemade card and some camping gear he had been wanting. I also crocheted him a “camouflage” beanie for when we go camping. I am pretty sure he wore it until he had to go to work. Then later that evening we went to dinner with family and came home to pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I grow more and more in love with my husband everyday, and when I get to spend days making him feel extra special, it just brings me that much more joy.
The best part of my week was having time away with my husband – a getaway to celebrate our 5th anniversary!

The best part of my week was that it ended! Next week is Chinese New Year here in Hong Kong – and I’m taking a break and heading to The Land Down Under!
The best part of my week was winning our curling game yesterday! It’s our first season, and we’re not very good.
The best part of my week was my Son making me chocolate chip cookies…..his are the absolute best and I don’t say that because I am related to him….I say it because I am a chocolate chip cookie junkie.
Coming home after three days and forty-two hours of work.
Best part of my week was….the 2 day work week! Snow blanketed Philly and there was no school for 3 days! Yippee! Oh yeah, and during that time, figuring out how to use Word Press! ugh, I’m a computer teacher for cryin’ out loud!!
It was a long, hard week in the composition trenches (I teach college writing–to first year students!) Thurs. night my dogs (a Dane and a beagle mix) plowed into my tiny study and WOULD NOT leave. Rescued at long last–this is what rescued animals do, just naturally I think. And so we walked around a few blocks under a clear, starry sky.
Thank you Lisa for offering to give away your beautiful yarn and the stitch markers (great idea). Best part of my week was starting a neighborhood (ladies only) weekly Canasta card party get together, nice to get out of the house, especially this winter, with all the snow storms. Snow still on the ground here at the Jersey Shore…..
best part of the week – a lovely dinner with some old friends.
The best part of my week was having time yesterday to curl up with a book I’ve been reading, and finish it! I don’t often get time to do those sorts of things.
Best part of my week…was it when the power came back on Friday morning? The house was 45 degrees at that point…Or maybe it was when, after spending 2 hours removing a tree from our car…oh…so…very…carefully…the dent popped back out ON ITS OWN.
That was pretty gleeful.
The best part of my week was when I found out my hubby was coming home for the weekend after all!
The best part of my week was meeting and talking to a fellow crocheter in the STS while waiting for an oil change. It was the ultimate in cool to talk patterns & stitches with someone who completely understands!
Best part of my week was planning a retirement party for a very good friend.
