Probably something you would like…

Yup. Two days in a row. Take a moment to get over it.

I am seriously considering this lamp to replace the one I broke in the living room. I promise never, ever to put a sea shell under it.

Spring Asparagus and Pancetta Hash. (Via the lovely and hilarious Mary-Heather) I want this tonight.

I haven’t seen many pacifiers but this is clearly the best one ever.

This lemon leaf garland is just achingly lovely and easy-breezy to make. Tutorial over at Project Wedding.

Sourdough pancakes sound like the answer to my pancake problems. (Too sweet, too vanilla-y.) Recipe at Angry Chicken.

I haven’t used this Knitter’s Hand Balm but the packaging is precious.

Budget Travel’s guide to the most beautiful ferry rides in the U.S.

These egg lamps make stars on the walls and ceiling in the dark and they’re beautiful too.

Lavender Lemonade. Yes, please.

I want every single thing in the Toast catalog.

Made me laugh.

There is something so sweet about this insanely over-priced, hand-lettered return address stamp.

It is ten million degrees today but I am craving Nigella’s Gingerbread with Lemon Icing, one of my all-time favorite non-cake but close enough desserts.

I am also craving the Chicken Frarej from Hedary’s, a lebanese restaurant in my hometown, Fort Worth TX. I finally found a recipe; I’ll let you know how it turns out.

Our local dinner has kick ass house-made strawberry jam and I just found out that this is the recipe they use.

So glad the harbor islands ferry made the list! I love that boat ride.

Those egg lamps are fantastic.

Susan, the link to the address stamp took me to the jam recipe. Can you fix?

Barbara form Virginia May 6, 2010 at 5:07 pm

But you could put yarn under the lamp. Just saying.

Susan aka reddirt May 6, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Oh yum! I WILL be making that jam. And love, love, love the egg lamp!

kimberly May 6, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I’m making that jam as soon as I can get my hands on some good lookin’ strawberries. Freezer jam! Who knew?

No sea shell, but the nest in the first photo is lovely… Do love the simplicity of the lamp, it is just lovely. How is the flock doing? and I include not only the fuzzy part but also the buzzy part of your flock in the question…

I want that lamp…NOW…

Strange. In the week following your “internet free weekend” you have TWO favorites lists. Hmmm.

Oh, I remember the one and only time I ordered Turkish coffee at Hedary’s. I was still in high school and not much of a coffee drinker, but I wanted to show my friends how cosmopolitan I was. I put in about half a dozen sugar packets to make it drinkable and then (here it comes) I stirred it up. Didn’t realize the coffee grounds were in the bottom of the cup, not to be disturbed. I must say, it was the worst cup of coffee I’ve had in my life! But the chicken recipe looks delicious. I’ll definitely try that one!

Do we know anyone getting married? Just stumbled on these: http://ruffledblog.com/2010/01/vintage-brooch-bouquets/ . With all my grandma’s old costume jewelry, I may have to whip one of these up just on principle.

my princess makes awesome hearty not-sweet, not-vanilla-y pancakes. i’ll write it down the next time she makes them and email you her secrets.

It isn’t enormously scenic, but you can actually catch a small car ferry across the Mississippi from Missouri to Illinois. During the floods of 1993 it was one of the few ways across the river for miles, because all the bridges were underwater, but the ferry just floated up with the water :)

Hedary’s! Oh, my goodness, that brings back some good memories. When I was at SMU as an undergrad ages ago we used to drive to Ft. Worth *just* to eat there. I would be glad to be recipe tester!

Dang…Hedary’s got me all excited…I should have kept reading. I went to this http://www.sweetberryfarm.com/ pick-your-own strawberry farm yesterday. If anyone’s in the Austin area it is *full* of beautiful berries.

Impeccable timing as always- planted strawberries yesterday! Will defintiely make the jam – here is my sourdough pancake adventure – they are soooo yummy, worth keeping a starter just for pancakes and waffles!

I had an Irish dance recital to bake for today – so I saw that gingerbread with lemon icing and took the plunge and made it up. Wow is that good! I think the icing should be called a glaze, however. There was not enough to cover the pan that I used – and when I made more, the lemon was a bit overpowering. Just a bit – not fatally. Wonder how this would work in a bundt cake pan with the glaze poured over? Thanks for the recipe. Well worth the fuss.

It really is my favorite not cake dessert! So glad you liked it, Sara.

Susan, regarding your bee stings, I only know one ‘golden rule’ about keeping bees. (Okay, two but one applies here.) Don’t mess with the bees at dusk when they are coming home. The other is don’t stand in front of the hive entrance. Don’t know if either of these apply or not. (I’ve had my hive a wapping 2 weeks… :-0)

Oh my goodness! Thanks so much for including my hand balm! I adore your blog and always think you have such impeccable taste and style, so it was HUGE compliment to see my balm on your favorites list. Thanks again! :D
