Guess who I just found standing on his own and drinking from his mama? Rushworth.
I think he is probably out of danger but he has a long road to catch up with the other lambs. I’m going to continue to feed him every four hours until he gets a bit stronger, but only during the day; he should be able to nurse from his mama at night. After consulting all my reference books, I’m positive he was premature. His dome shaped skull and extra long legs are the giveaway.

Do you think there is something lurking in the fields that are pushing the ewes into early labor – ala Amelia?

Sweet little guy. I hope he continues to progress.
He is so sweet! Wish I could help feed him! (It’s only a little over 1,000 miles for me to get there…) I’m so glad he’s doing ok.
Oh Sleepless Shepherd,
Thank you for taking such good care of a wee one. Nap well!
Our whole family is rooting (forgive the pun) for Rushworth, though in our hearts he will always be called Mr. Tiny.
Congratulations! How wonderful it is to seem him doing so well after such a rocky start.

You’re just a good caretaker, hooray for you and Rushworth. Great name given he’s a preemie!
Wonderful! He looks ever so proud of himself, if just a leetle teetery. Maybe you can get some rest, now.

Yay for tiny lamb!
He is mind bendingly adorable, and I really hope he continues to thrive!
Woo Hoo! Great news! JMFarmers! I wonder what might have prompted this sweet baby to arrive prematurely?
He looks much better from the first photo. His muzzle seems better formed now. Go, Rushworth, go!
