by Susan on April 26, 2010

Miss Liberty just delivered a lamb-o-saurus rex. That’s more than 16 pounds of lamb you’re looking at!

His name is Knightley.

That’s a big one! What a cutie. I’m glad he’s named after Mr. Knightly. I wonder how he compares in size to Tiny.

Now will you REALY need a ribbon on this BIG boy?? Welcome, Mr. Knightly.

Susie tried to get a picture of the two of them together but Catalina was about to go crazy with Rushworth out of her sight! And Miss Liberty was wondering if he was her baby…lots of confusion.

OMG!! He’s adorable. How many more to go?

Carolyn C April 26, 2010 at 7:54 am

He’s beautiful. This is a little like opening birthday or Christmas presents, except much better..You never know what’s in the next package, but each is a treasure. Thank you so much for sharing!

Linda April 26, 2010 at 8:51 am

Wow! He is 16 pounds and Tiny was…three? Tiny has a lot of growing to do!

He looks so laid back and calm. So glad to hear that your shearing day event was a hit! Can’t wait for the photos and stories… How is Mr. Tiny doing?

What a handsome lamb! Keep ‘em coming . . .

jan April 26, 2010 at 5:27 pm

There are no “dumb” questions….right? Why are the newborns orange?…Is it from mom or medicine used for delivery???

sara April 26, 2010 at 6:35 pm

Aww… he was born when I was hanging out waiting for a driver change in DC! So sweet!

Beth April 26, 2010 at 10:26 pm

What does a lamby-lamb normally weigh – asks a city girl who’s never been around a lamb, but imagines they smell like sweetness and light and feel like all kinds of softy cotton balls.

Jan and Beth: We couldn’t find any good info on cormo lamb birth weights (Maggie is waiting on an email from someone…) but Susie says like 8ish pounds is a good sized lamb. And the yellow coating is kinda like the vernix on human babies. I’ve mostly heard them called yolky when they come out that way…they all seem to be yolky!

Handsome dude! I think he should be assigned to Mr. Tiny in the farm buddy system. The pictures of the other newborn lambs often look like they need to “grow into” their fleece skin, but Knightly looks like he’s a perfect fit. Can’t wait to meet them all at the photography workshop in 3 wks!
