Okay Cyber-Shepherds. Time for you to help us choose the naming conventions we’ll use to name this year’s crop of kids and lambs. The examples next to each convention are not necessarily the names we’ll use if the convention wins; there just there for illustrative purposes. Please select your two favorites. The polls will be open till Sunday at midnight.
The polls are now closed! Thanks to everyone for voting.

i say really keep the theme, wine and cheese!
wine and adult beverages go together too!
Adult beverages & Jane Austen are also an amusing mix, in my opinion.
I REALLY want Virgina Towns to win because this is the first year the farm is in VA, and it seems really fitting. All the other names could apply to ANY year.
I must be the only one never to have read any Jane Austen. What does it say about my level of sophistication that I chose Muppets instead?
I agree with Lauria on the Towns in VA and Muppets seem to speak for themselves.
Muppets for the kids, towns for the lambs.
I also like the wine and cheese ones being together – is it too early to say we should do those next year?
Maggie, Muppets were one of my choices too! and VA towns. Since there is already an Ernie on the farm, I think there should be a Bert also.
Oh, and then the next year Dickens and Austen characters – a very literary year! I like the combo theme idea a lot…
I’m with you, Lauria. Virginia town names to honor first year in VA. Or adult beverages kind of in honor of shortmegan’s creative beverage making skills.
Adult beverages go with everything! My personal favorite for a name – Bellini.
Adult bev and the Muppets FTW!
I can’t follow directions and just voted for one. Actually what happened was I saw “cheese” out of the corner of my eye and got so giddy that I had to vote on it immediately.
I agree with Lauria! Make it Virginia towns since this is the first year at the VA farm!
I chose pasta and apples because a lamb/kid named Gemelli or Zestar! is just too adorable! The former is one of my favorite pasta shapes and the later a fun apple born right here in Minnesota.
Towns in Virginia is sooooo fitting this first year in your new home, and explorers because that’s what YOU are… exploring your new home!
I like towns in Va, esp if you include where I was born-Ellett. I also like cheeses and staying with VA, I like apples.
Sorry, I forgot another, you could do Virginia Explorers or Virginia Presidents and famous Va women
I think towns in Virginia is BRILLIANT for the year after your move. And, having grown up in a small town in Virginia, now I can’t stop thinking of all the wonderful options off the beaten path… Chatham, Dayton, Mauzy, Monteray, Toano all come to mind. I would suggest not Short Pump, though
I love the muppets however…. they are all male… cept for Miss Piggy
Go TEAM TOWNS IN VIRGINIA!
I’ll go with cheeses and Muppets
Go Muppets!!! Muppets were my first pick, and cheese my second pick. Great choices. Susie you should do a run of gem colorways.
I voted for Virginia names because I think it’s great that Susie and the farm moved there this year and it’s the first time babies are being born on the farm. I also voted for the Muppets because my kids used to love the muppets. And like Susan aka Reddirt said, there already is an Ernie on the farm so we need Bert!
After reading Percy Jackson (books, please, not that sorry excuse for a movie adaptation) I had to vote for the Greek and Roman gods. According to my son, who now is obsessed with Greek mythology, there are 13 major Greek gods and over a thousand minor ones – and this is just the Greek ones – so there wont be a name shortage.
Jane Austen, well, she just has the best names, or is it that I love the names because the stories are great?
I vote for Wines and Cheeses!! This would be such a great mix of names in one year
Then when it’s all over you can have a wine and cheese party to celebrate!
I was all about the adult beverages until you sprung the Muppets on me.
we MUST have a goat named Bingley!!!
My only concern for the muppet theme is that there is an overabundance of male names and a very limited amount of female names (particularly on Sesame Street). Unless that doesn’t matter, in which case, it is an AWESOME theme!
Cheeses! Imagine a little goat or sheet that’s kind of gassy, you can name it Limburger!!!!!
what a smart way to do a pole!
how exciting
up way too early to go to UCLA to volunteer my services @ the so. cal. crossfit sectionals!
check it out
and have a GREAT day
xo
love

I like the cheese names, I live in Virginia so I also picked the Virginia towns!!!
wine and cheese of course-anyone knows!!!
You got me with Galax and Alexandria – they’re both such beautiful places. And a sheep named Willoughby is just flat-out irresistible!
gems and cheeses.
