[My friend Lauria came down from Boston this week to help me get ready for the Homespun Yarn Party. I asked her to do a guest blog post before she leaves tomorrow.]
I’ve been staying at the farm since Monday to help with this weekend’s Homespun Yarn Party. Between working hard and chatting, I’ve been taking photos of the animals and trying to get as many snuggles in with the new baby goats!
Here are some photos from my farm visit. (I shot 500!)

Ernie, the Cotswold, is huge! That fiber is coming on Friday, when Emily the shearer comes!
I’m not sure if this is Dakota or Delaware, but she would not leave me alone! She’s only a year old. Seems like yesterday I was waiting for her birth!
Chickens like drinking in the muddy puddles left by the hose. This one is a Silver Laced Wyandotte.
Sabine is super sweet and greets me at the fences!
One of the blog readers (Hi Amy!) came over because she had a pregnant goat and was getting advice. One of her darling daughters posed for this photo with Camila! So sweet!
Lots of dying going on! A preview of the dyed roving and skeins of yarn ready to take dye.
I dyed my first yarn today! I’m going to make a sweater. This will be my 6th(?) knitting project. It will go from dark purple on top to pink on the bottom. Believe it or not, this all happened in one dye pot with one batch of dye. Does anyone have any sweater suggestions for 1760 yards of Cormo/Mohair Light Worsted?
Camila’s on the left, Gonzo’s on the right. A last snuggle before I leave the farm tomorrow morning!

Thanks for the photos…. I come everyday to see what you have been up to and checking the nose count… Yarn is looking fantastic. I knit two of the February Lady sweaters. Not a huge challenge, but not so easy you get bored. I have had the opportunity to wear the wool version several times this winter. I knit it out of wool that I hand painted and it came out beautiful. It might be a fun knit for your wool.
SuuhhhWEEEET! What a great blog, Lauria…almost as great as talking to you on the phone! xoxo!
Lauria, how did you manage to leave without stuffing those two cute little kids into your suitcase? (and stopping here in Framingham to share their snugs?) The two of them are so adorable. And they can’t be much larger than my Maltese!
Love your yarn colors and sweater plans. As for more project ideas, I’d take a short sleeve sweater that goes from purple to pink like your sweater, any day.
Wish I had a bucket of those lovely Cotswold curls. Does anyone else think it’s a shame to comb them out? (Yes, I’m a needle-felter who loves working with Cotswold curls!).
Great blogshare, Lauria!
The goats are adorable that’s for sure, BUT what an amazing job dying the gradients from purple to pink. No matter what you make, it will be amazing!
Super cute!! You need to get that last pic blown up poster sized and hang it up in your living room!
I am dying to know: how did you die that gradient yarn? It is just beautiful! We want to see the finished product, too.
Aw! Neve loves those babies. Great meeting you guys! Hopefully we’ll get over on Friday to see the shearing!
Lauria, what wonderful photo’s! I just love the yarn and want some of the pink so badly!!!
Ooh, love the yarn and fiber. Soo pretty.
