Odds and Ends

by Susan on February 9, 2010

1. WE HAVE POWER! Who knew how amazing running water, electricity, WiFi and heat could be? You know what I’m most excited about? Vacuuming. And doing laundry. And taking a hot shower. And not sleeping in the cold. Okay, I’m excited about lots of stuff.

2. THANK YOU! Thank all of you for all the cards and letters and little gifts  you’ve been sending. I am humbled by all the support and it means the whole world to me. I read them all and save them for the inevitable sucky days when I need a little pick-me-up. Y’all are awesome and you make me feel like I can do anything.

3. Due to the crazy weather, I am a scooch behind one dyeing the sample colors for the Fall 09 Shareholder yarn. As long as the power stays on, I should have the photos posted by Saturday.

4. Newsweek’s International edition has a round-up of luxury farm stays this week and guess who’s in it?

[If anybody living outside the U.S. sees a copy on the newsstand, could you grab one for me? I'll reimburse you for the postage.] We are swamped with requests for info, so if you have a specific week or weekend you’d like to reserve, let me know right away so we can get you on the calendar. susie AT fiberfarm DOT com.

Two weeks ago, I went 22 hours without power and that hot shower and cup of coffee when it came back on was the best I ever had, so I can imagine how relieved you must feel, although the longest we’ve gone is two days without electricity. Bad storm heading my way now and I full anticipate losing electric tomorrow. Several near me haven’t had it since Saturday as it is.

What terrific press!! And oh those little luxuries…water…hot water…lights…

I’m so glad your power is on again. I have friends in SW OK who are quickly approaching 2 weeks without power following a particularly wicked ice storm. I don’t know how they’re doing it.
Take care, get some rest, and kick whatever bug is making you feel crummy!

Wow, how great! Both the power restored news and the Newsweek article. Wish I had a link to that…know of one? I went looking but struck out.

I know how hard you already work and hope the farm stays don’t cause you too much extra work!

I’ll run down to the newsagent in an hour or two and see if it’s in yet. We have two across teh street from each other, and I know one of them carries it, at least. I’ll let you know when I get it.

Here’s a link to the article: http://www.newsweek.com/id/233044 .

The farm isn’t mentioned in the piece, but the pic is in the print edition. Not the online one. But *still*…

Glad you have power back on! I don’t remember which post we’re suppose to leave naming ideas on- but I was just thinking – in light of the international exposure- maybe country names, or international cities?

OMG! You’re famous!! (Well, famouser)
