It’s a cruel fact of the yarn business that no matter how many skeins of each colorway you dye, there will always be one or two left over. It is a further fact that sometimes things go all wonky in the dye pot and you end up with one wackadoo skein of yarn that doesn’t matches the others from the same lot even a little bit. We call these perfectly lovely skeins the Widows and Orphans.
And when the Widows and Orphans pile grows larger than the desk in our office and threatens to crush Paige in an avalanche of wool and mohair we have a sale!
Here’s the dealio: For $40 you get four skeins of our lovely, farm-raised, hand-dyed yarn chosen by us at random, just like the September Surprise Sale. No special requests please! Now, just to keep things interesting, two Widows & Orphans boxes will receive five skeins of yarn instead of four. We’ll put all the orders in a hat and draw two at random. (Since we only have 14 boxes for sale the odds are pretty good.)
If history tells us anything these boxes will be gone by end of business today so don’t wait to get yours. Click here to purchase.

They are so pretty together, maybe a yarn store should buy them all!
What a perfect use for a little Christmas money! BTW the calendars are just beautiful. We can’t stop looking at them. In fact I haven’t been able to hang mine up yet, ’cause my sons keep flipping through it.
about the calanders, I got three and have given two as gifts and one is on my desk. It makes me smile to look up and see the girls walking in the snow. The second one in line looks like she is smiling, a little hard to tell, but it sure makes ME smile. Thanks for sharing your gang with us. I have my kitten-headed moments all the time between your pics and the ones from the itty bitty kitty committee site ( I have several not so itty bitty kitties…) Thanks for the blog.
Drat…being on the other side of the world brings me late to the table. They are all gone. WAH!!!
LOL! Susan, you are totally right. Next time we have a sale, in the interest of fairness, it will start at end of business U.S. time.
If you haven’t been able to tell, recently I haven’t been able to afford pretty much anything, however I do want to say that this is a great idea.
I also wish so, so much I could go to Squam Arts. My lordy lordy I want to do that so badly I can taste it… Sigh, someday when we’re rich.
