- She’s wanting to be hand-fed, but if you put some food on the floor – she’ll eat out of her bowl by herself.
- She’s wanting to jump up on the side of the pen when she’s feeling energetic — which we’re trying to get her not to do, but it also shows that she’s feeling pretty strong.
-She’s getting bored and crying even when Paige and Erin are within her sights.
- After she takes the pain meds she mellows out about 45 mins later — but at the same time she can’t take any until 7:50 – and right now she’s napping. I think she just keeps gettting bored into napping.

Wonderful news!! I’m so thrilled that she is doing so much better!
I’m so glad she seems to be doing well!
This is great. and good lord she is HUGE. Wasn’t she an itty bitty thing like 2 weeks ago?
Great news. Glad to see Lucy’s feeling feisty
Fantastic!
She’s gonna be a giant! She weighed 31 pounds at her last regular vet check-up. At 12 weeks old, mind you.
So you and the vets are sure she’ll pull through? It certainly sounds like it and I couldn’t be happier for you. Losing her would have been just so devastating for all of you.
I am SO MAD at the driver that hit her. He/she took off I suppose? Did the neighbor happen to know who it was or get their plate number? What sweet revenge it would be to have them arrested.
Poor thing. When our dog, Jenny, hurt her back, we had a heck of a time keeping her still. They just want to GO!
I’m so glad to hear that Lucy is recovering from her accident.
Bored is soooo good! If she was really feeling horrid, she just wouldn’t care. Good healing, Lucy!
She has so much personality in those eyes! So glad for the positive steps! She just missed her mommy and wanted her home from TX that much sooner…kids are like that.
I love Lucy.
Sleeping is probably good for her.
At this point is the vet saying that she should be OK or is that still to be determined? How’s her breathing?
Thank you for the great update on Lucy. I tried sending her Reiki, but she didn’t want it when I asked her! She is independent as a Maremma should be! I sent the Reiki energy to you and your farm “for the greater good” to include Lucy.
Five minutes of training is like an hour of physical exercise for a dog. There are easy commands for Lucy to do while she is in the kennel to make her think, and not move her body – just her head. (head up, head down, look left, look right, nod, shake the head, e.g.) Maremmas are highly intelligent, and do need something to do. I’m not telling you anything new! Blessings.
So good to hear that she seems to be feeling better.
May she continue to have a speedy (and uneventful) recovery!
GOOD news! She’s usually such an active little girl, with so many things going on, no wonder she’s feeling bored. But, yay that she CAN feel bored! When she’s feeling a little better, maybe she’d appreciate a stuffed, frozen Kong for something to do? Maybe some coloring books? (The coloring books worked for my sister and me when we were sick. Kongs work for Chappy.)
Sounds like being home sick- you need to rest but sometimes when you’re on the mend you start to get bored of it. That’s really good
Love the pictures & the wool!
Thanks so much for keeping us in the loop! Im glad this is a slower (!?) time at the farm so there is time to give her the care and attention she needs. Yay Lucy! And yay to you all for hanging in there.
Okay, now that Lucy is doing better, I was already to shop! I wanted to pick up some sigg bottles and canvas bags, are these items not carried in YOUR shop? or is someone handling these for you? I will go to the archives if need be, but if there’s a quicker way to find them… Otherwise, I will have to show my support some other way, like buying a share… Darn…
So glad to hear that she’s feeling a little better! Every step closer must be just a slight lifting of the worry.
Great news that Lucy is doing better! Thank you for the update.
A Kong is a great thing to keep puppies entertained in crates. Stuff it with kibble, layer in treats, peanut butter, etc. and it will help keep her happy and entertained.
The first thing my daughter asks when she gets home from school – How’s Lucy doing? I look forward to being able to tell her that she’s bored. Great news and thanks for the update.
C’mon, Lucy! Keep getting better! We’re all rooting for you, sweet gitl.
Go Lucy!
Happy happy happy. Go Lucy!!!! And hugs to the humans who care for her, of course.
oh I know that side long doggy glance so well. She wants out of her cell so she vcan get into puppy trouble. I am happy she is feeling better.
That LOOK!!!
Do you feel guilty yet? For, you know, forcing her to heal????
she’s workin it
happy to hear that lucy is feeling better, energetic and wanting to do more
i hope/think she’ll recover completely.
is her breathing back to normal?
i’m sure she just wants 24/7 attention now
and whines for it in the crate
why not? she’s the center of attention
and an adorable (large) puppy!
i remember watching my st. bernard puppy grow so quickly many years ago
he went from teeny to 200 lbs in what seemed like no time.
blessings and love to lucy and all of you
rona
That picture is classic. It really says it all.
I’m so glad she is getting better
She’s a beautiful puppy
Great news!
She’s bored,so teach her to….KNIT!!!! What wonderful news. And Fran, here’s your Juniper Moon Swag: http://shop.cafepress.com/juniper-moon
That news makes me so happy. When do she go back to the vet for a checkup?
Poor little thing…shes a fighter though ! All good signs. Animals are amazing when it comes to their ability to deal with pain and heal….go Lucy !!!
I had a dream about Lucy – I came to see the farm and check if she was alright. everybody was really happy to have her home and she was excited and full of energy.
shows you that your readers are worried too, right down to their subconscious minds!
Yay! I feel so happy when I hear she’s doing better. Not to anthropomorphise too much, but her behavior sounds just like hubby’s after he had rib surgery a couple years ago. And Management is hanging in there?
