Some pics and a Cool New Contest

by Susan on January 7, 2010

We spent the morning outdoors today while Erin, Paige and Paige’s friend Brad built a new sheep shelter and I groomed the dogs. It was a beautiful day and it felt great to be out in the sunshine without freezing to death.

Tired of puppy pics yet?

I have been poking around on ravelry and checking out the FOs (finished objects) made with Juniper Moon Farm/Martha’s Vineyard Fiber Farm yarn. It’s so cool for me to see the fleece off our flock’s backs all knitted up! So cool that it inspired me to have a contest.

Send us your pics of the coolest/prettiest/most lovely sweater/scarf/socks/whatever that you knitted up with Juniper Moon Farm yarn. We’ll chose a pool of finalistĀ for all the blog readers to vote on and the winner will receive a $50 Juniper Moon Farm Gift Certificate.

The fine print: At least 75% of your project must be Juniper Moon Farm to qualify for entry. By sending us your photo you’re giving Juniper Moon Farm permission to publish your photo on our website. Send your photos to susie AT fiberfarm DOT com. PLEASE put “photo contest” in the subject line of your email. If you used a published pattern you MUST include the name of the pattern in the email so that we can credit the designer; if it’s an original pattern, indicate so. If you remember the name of the color and which yarn you used please include that info in your email as well. Also include the name you would like to be used with your photo on the site. You may enter as many FOs as you like but please include all the info above for each photo. All photos must be received by Sunday, January31st. (That’s to give you time to finish up any WIP.)

EDITED TO ADD: Spinners, you will not be left out! Send us pics of your finest JMF handspun. We’ll have a separate category just for you.

Questions? Post them in the comments.

Can’t wait to see what you’ve done with our yarn!

Hi,
I would love to learn how to knit. Any suggestions??
Thanks!
Plus, I never tire of puppy pics or any animal pics, for that matter. Your puppy pics have been a bright spot for me since losing mine.

What a great contest…I knitted most of my Christmas knitting with JMF yarn!!!
Hey, what are Paige and Brad building?
That cutie Lucy napping is precious…more more more!.

Off to look through my project pages!

Mary (GrandmaTutu) January 7, 2010 at 9:17 pm

I love this contest!! Please, please, please, post all the pictures of all the FOs–I can’t wait to see what others have done too!!

Susan January 7, 2010 at 9:21 pm

Great idea, Mary. Will do.

NEVER tire of your pics! They are awesome.

Maureen J (mljan) January 7, 2010 at 10:09 pm

This will be fun to see. Since I took a spinner’s share and am anxiously awaiting the delivery of my first wheel, I won’t have anything finished in time. I’m still enjoying just gazing on the fiber.
And there can never be too many pictures of both little and big woofers. Did you clip Lucy?

Kari, I recommend the Leisure Arts “I Can’t Believe I’m Knitting in One Day” or something close to that. Sold in all the Michaels and Joannes often as a kit with needles, etc..

erm, how about handspun with your fiber? I admit, I have yet to knit any of the yarn I bought from y…wait, I do have one thing. You currently own them–the mitts! But, my handspun from your mohair is much cooler. How about handspun?

PainterWoman January 8, 2010 at 12:08 am

I always love the puppy photos.
I can’t remember what breed Lucy is… Do they get HUGE? what if they only had a couple of retirees to herd? just wondering.
Best wishes for the new year.
Oh, and when/where will you be at the FW Stock Show? The offer for lunch in Dallas is still open… (or a chauffered trip to The Woolie Ewe in Plano (My favorite and local yarn shop.)

More Puppy Pics!!

victoria January 8, 2010 at 9:23 am

Definitely not tired of puppy photos. If possible, please respond to my email address with the location of your farm in case I get a chance to run out and see it. I live in Cville and am happy that you have joined us in Central Virginia!

HilaryGermany (in Sicily) January 8, 2010 at 9:23 am

Does the project need to be 100% JMF yarn to qualify?? I just completed a pattern that’s part JMF yarn, part handspun from someone else’s fiber, and a tad of commercial yarn.

HilaryGermany (in Sicily) January 8, 2010 at 9:29 am

How do I link my yarns to Juniper Moon Farm in Ravlery? It doesn’t show up as a linking possibility – just under the old name.

Susan January 8, 2010 at 9:40 am

A mix of yarns is cool, as long as the JMF yarn is the majority of your project. Thanks for asking Hilary. I’ll put it up in the main post.

Susan January 8, 2010 at 9:41 am

That’s a good question. I have never put our yarns in the rav database; someone else has always entered them.

Susan January 8, 2010 at 9:46 am

I’ll be in Fort Worth at the Stock Show 1/20-1/24 and I’ll post on the blog what our schedule is when we get closer. I know we’ll be going to Joe T. Garcia’s at least once and probably having dinner at my mom’s house as well. Oh and Whataburger! We are definitely taking our Yankee friends to Whatabuger. :) I would love it if you could join us for any/all of it.

Susan January 8, 2010 at 9:47 am

Great idea! I’ll add it to the contest.

Jenny January 8, 2010 at 11:08 am

Brad’s cute! I’ll have to take some pictures…

Julie Roads January 8, 2010 at 7:53 pm

There will never be enough pictures of that PUPPY!

Melissa L January 9, 2010 at 12:47 am

I am never sick of puppy pictures – your dogs are so majestic and truly stunning. It’s so heart warming to see them in their perfect environment!

Lori on Little Traverse Bay January 9, 2010 at 8:29 am

Great pictures, but where’s the snow?!

Susan January 9, 2010 at 11:44 am

No snow left, thank goodness! We got a tiny dusting this week but nothing to speak of. The sheep and goats are actually still grazing the pastures which is practically a miracle and really cuts back on our hay bill. January is supposed to be the coldest month around here so if we can hold out a bit longer we’ll be moving into SPRING!!!

Crista January 11, 2010 at 5:33 pm

I just received the Persephone sock yarn and it’s beautiful! Can’t wait to work with the lovely colors.
Way to go ladies!

Susan January 11, 2010 at 8:33 pm

I’m so glad you like it Crista. Suzy outdid herself with the sock yarns.

Maria March 4, 2010 at 4:36 pm

all are beautiful…but I’m voting for Amanda Bock’s sweater–good job Amanda!! How’s the library these days?!?
