Colleen December 4, 2009 at 8:39 am: It’s not clear how much they are lightening up…..besides, they discriminate in their employee hiring/treatment policies, and they get government money, so they shouldn’t be.

Maureen J (mljan) December 4, 2009 at 7:29 pm: My father-in-law, who clearly remembered the Great Depression and the War to End All Wars, would not give to the SA because, he said, they made the bums pray before they could get food.
NOTE: To people of that era, and to my FIL, “bum” is not a pejorative, just a fact of the depression.
