The Morning in Pictures: Snowbound Edition

by Susan on December 19, 2009

A friend called from D.C. to make sure we were okay and asked if I had arranged a plow service. I was completely baffled by the question. Then I realized that most people would probably want or need to leave their house at some point before the snow melts, whereas I am thrilled to be stuck at home with my flock, a roaring fire in the wood stove, a well-stocked pantry and my knitting.

The chickens wisely chose to stay in their coop today.

Awww, Lucy looks like she’s having fun, even if the snow seems to be as deep as she is tall!

It looks like Lucy’s enjoying the snow. Chappy’s so jealous–because one, it hasn’t started snowing here yet, but two, he no longer has a yard to romp in. There’s nowhere to just let him out to play in the snow except the tiny deck off the living room. He’s really going to miss that! And he’s so good at catching snowballs in his mouth, too… Stay snug, you three!

puppy + snow = wonderful!

On our way to snowed-in too, though my New Englander DH just laughs at anything under 2 feet!

Lori aka knittingfool December 19, 2009 at 12:46 pm

I miss the farm so much. Thank you for posting, Susie. I am so glad you made it home before the storm hit. Snorgles to one and all.

Lucy looks like a little Virginia polar bear. So, so cute!

Kay Slaughter December 19, 2009 at 2:36 pm

That barn pic should be a greeting card. Kudos on all of the pics, though. Nice to see down here in Sunny Big D

JacobsReward December 19, 2009 at 5:45 pm

Yeah, Kay beat me to it – I was going to say that the farm looks even more like a picturebook than ever. May peace and joy cover the farm like your blanket of snow.

I’m with you Susan, LOVE being snowed in!! The flock looks quite content but that puppy is growing way to fast!!!

Louise Edsall December 19, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Loving the snow up my way too. We officially have 24 inches on the ground in my yard in Manassas. 7 more to fall before midnight. The photos are great and the little Lucy is adorable …as always…oooh thank Paige for the yummy eggnog recipe

Susan aka reddirt December 19, 2009 at 8:47 pm

Oh what wonderful pictures! That puppy makes me laugh so hard. So much cuteness in one happy bundle. And look at Paige flaunting her Carrharts! I can imagine how much fun y’all are having. Hope nobody has to go anywhere soon.

Oh what wonderful pictures!
I so live in the wrong part of this country! I want lots of snow too! The dogs and sheep look so cute in all the snow.
Enjoy! Stay warm ! :0)

DS said, Aaww, sugared lambs!

Jane December 20, 2009 at 9:54 am

Hey Susie how come you got all the snow? In Hopewell we got less then an inch last night, more like a dusting. Enjoy our snow, stay warm and happy shoveling. Jane and Rob

Cindy aka counting goats December 20, 2009 at 4:45 pm

Thanks for the snow pictures, we also enjoyed a day off at home. We shoveled snow the the neighbors and their dogs, a great way to meet each other.

turtle December 20, 2009 at 11:49 pm
