Girl Farm

by Susan on December 11, 2009

There is something intensely satisfying about the fact that Erin, Paige and I do all the farm work around here. Never once has one of us wished we had a man around when it comes time to move heavy things, fix the tractor or work the flock. With the right tools and the internet we’ve been able to handle everything that comes up. (And, now that we don’t have a man around, we can find the tools where we left them!)

DSC_0150This morning we moved shelters, repaired fences and spent some time playing with Lucy.

She is growing so fast! We won’t be able to carry her for much longer.

That little Lucy is one cute pup! I love seeing her grow before our eyes. Just wanted to comment to say that I got my farm share in the mail yesterday and am absolutely in heaven, and I am so proud of you strong, capable women for doing what you do. Keep it up!

Gosh that Lucy is adorable.

As for the farm… Susan B. Anthony said:

I think the girl who is able to earn her own living and pay her own way should be as happy as anybody on earth. The sense of independence and security is very sweet.

and…

Independence is happiness.

Awesome! I love the words you put into Lucy’s mouth. Those photos are adorable. And, I love that you are confident in what you do and that you have a great (woman) team to get the work done.

You made me laugh out loud about finding tools. That would be so nice!

Your pup is so very cute!

Now see….I love that……..I love that you said that you dont need to have a man around to run the farm…its inspirational & encouraging to me…because I keep feeling that in order for us to do our farm..we need muscle. Its not that I have anything against men…not at all….I just want to be independant enough that we, 2 women, can run our farm.
You go girls ! :-)

And oh….that little Lucy is just too darn cute.

This picture-story so made my day~ I have 15 more papers to grade and I needed some girl and puppy power energy.

Thanks for taking time to share your day.

Lucy is adorable! I love seeing her interacting with the other animals.

Way to go on having a girls only farm, you should be proud of all that you accomplish, from big to small!

Girl Power Rocks!

Could you please keep little Miss Lucy little for just a little longer? The solstice party isn’t that far away but she’ll be near full grown at this rate!

Andrea December 13, 2009 at 11:45 am

Lucy should have her own blog!!! She is getting so big, so fast! And she appears to love her new home!

Maureen J (mljan) December 14, 2009 at 9:59 pm

Lucy’s face is already changing. So fast. But your picture story is lovely. Brightens my day.

As a single female doing farming on my own I can appreciate this post…yes, tools don’t move from where you leave them.
I DO how ever “borrow” my neighbor’s husband for the mechanical issues.
If a women owns a loader tractor there is no need for a man around. :>)
