I’ve been enjoying a few precious days off and I hope you are as well. I’ll be back to regular posting tomorrow morning but I wanted to let you all know that Paige and Shareholder Lisa have been hard at work putting together the Juniper Moon Swag Shop and it is now officially open! You’ll find all kinds of cool wearables and other stuff with our beautiful JMF logo as well as a whole host of hilarious gear from the mad mind of Lisa.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
I was so excited when I found out we would have SIGG water bottles with our logo on them. Lovely, isn’t it?

Lisa totally outdid herself on the Sicily the Stash Fairy Tote, dontcha think?
On a completely different and tragic note, my dear friend Cindy of Jacob’s Reward Farm suffered a terrible loss this morning when a roaming domestic dog killed two of her beloved sheep. Please send your thoughts and prayers to Cindy today; she is a very special person and she is hurting.
Domestic dogs kill more sheep and other livestock every year than coyotes, wolfs or any other wild animal. They don’t do it maliciously but even “good” can and will kill a sheep when given the opportunity. If you live in an area near livestock farms please reconsider before letting your dog roam free outdoors.

I feel for Cindy…I lost a chicken in my own backyard to a roaming domestic dog this week. And as angry as I was I could see that the dog was confused when I yelled at him! His tail immediately went between his legs, his ears drooped and his eyes were searching me for the reason I was angry…I suddenly felt so bad for the little dog who was obviously out unsupervised and unguided. It then became the perfect time to explain to Sierra that sometimes bad things happen and we need to pray for the victims of the bad things and also for the victimizers, sometimes they know not of what they do…
Thanks, friends. It’s been a very long, very sad day. And I’m not sure how well I’ll sleep tonight. I appreciate everyone’s kind and comforting words. We’re making some changes around here for security, but we know that even when you do your best, crap happens. Thanks for your caring. It really does help.
Our cat was once called “bad” because it may have killed a chicken next door…
It’s a hard thing, when natural instincts come out in the wrong place/time.
Prayers of comfort.
Cindy I am so sorry to hear that your sheep were killed. I get so angry with owners out here that let thier dogs run free, bears and lions, even the cows will kill the dog. While I can’t touch wool, I do like looking at the sheep.
I am so very sorry for her loss.
A friend of mine recently lost her whole flock of chickens and both her rabbits to what she believes were her neighbor’s two dogs. No one saw it, so no one is sure, but it did bear the hallmarks of a multiple canine attack. Although the dogs’ owners have tried to keep a better eye on them their son tends to just let them out and pay no mind to them.
I would never have thought of domestic dogs doing this… but it is clearly true and an existing problem.
My friend is going to restock her flock… as soon as she gets a good protective fence around the hen and rabbit houses.
