I know. I know. Every blogger had a gift guide. Enough already, right? Well maybe just one more…
I am a simple woman. As long as my feet are warm, I’m relatively happy. That’s why I am completely smitten with SmartWool socks. (about $15/pair or in two packs for $30)They are cute as a button AND warm. For all the cold-footed, warm-hearted types on your list.
If, like us, you don’t wear your shoes in the house, I also highly recommend Pia Wallen’s felt slippers. They aren’t cheap ($55-$70) but I love mine so, so, so much and they’re made from wool.
Paige found these awesome calendars, a spoof on the ubiquitous Keep Calm and Carry On posters.
They are sold as PDFs you print yourself and only $5.
There’s even a men’s version:
Everybody has a pen snob on their holiday list. JetPens is their church. All kind of awesome Japanese office supplies that will even turn the heads of those of us that routinely steal pens from the house keeping cart at cheap motels. And by us I mean me.
This shawl pin totally knock me out. ($30-$42 depending on metal)
Yup. That’s the back end of a sheep. And it reminds me of all those late-night hoo-ha checks during kidding and lambing. Also be sure to check out the cable needle and yarn needle jewelry here. All perfect for the shawl knitter in your life.
When I was at CBS News, I was lucky enough to produce a story about pop-up book artist Robert Sabuda. He is AMAZING! His Christmas books make great gifts (around $20) or make your own pop-up using the simple directions on his website.
Foyle’s War (about $100 for the whole series) is just the most amazing mystery series set in World War II England. I love everything about this series- Michael Kitchen is brilliant and the supporting cast is very strong. The writing is some of the best on television and the costumes and sets are beautiful. Perfect gift for nearly everyone on your list.
Sick of trying to find a lid to fit that plastic storage bowl yet? One of the best investments I ever made was in glass refrigerator ware.
They come in lots of shapes and sizes, are made of glass so they last forever and won’t junk up the landfills.
They’re also stupid inexpensive. (Starting at $1.95 at Crate and Barrel)
Lego has a whole line of Architecture Kits, including the Empire State Building, the Seattle Space Needle and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water. Super cool! (starting at $40)
If you’ve been to our house lately (or invited us to yours) you have already been treated to hours of endless prattling about the glories of our Professional Cream Whipper. (Around $70) If you believe nothing else I tell you, believe this: never, ever underestimate the morale-boosting power of freshly whipped cream.
A great stocking stuffer for cooks? The Herb Keeper makes those insanely expensive grocery store herbs last ages longer. ($20)
Check back this week for an all-handmade gift guide!

The cream whipper went on my wish list in November as soon as we got back from the farm and all the freshly whipped cream a late night pajama party could handle! oh, all right we only used it for the lovely pies at dinner…
Must not buy stuff for self!!!
*Hides wallet*
Just yesterday I told someone “I don’t have a wishlist.”
My, how quickly things change!
Cracked me up to see “tell the publisher I’d like to read this book on kindle”!
That would be the Deluxe Pop-Up Kindle, right?
I checked out the Crate and Barrel glass containers and those are perfect! I need something that is more stackable in the refrigerator. I just might have to put those on my Christmas list. Thanks for the ideas.
I like Annie Adams shawl pins:
