So while we were obviously bummed to hear that Susie is sick back in VA, we have not let it stop us from declaring The Great Fall Fleece Delivery of 2009 a HUGE success. (ok. We’re only in Massachusetts, but still…)
Since we forgot the cord to hook-up our iPods to the truck stereo we’ve been listening to plenty of the recent top 40 country hits with some Terry Gross thrown in for good measure.
Out of the 7 states we made our way through today, Pennsylvania was where we spent the most time. We decided to forgo the more direct route through DC and Baltimore (and New Jersey and New York City…) for farms and less traffic, and there were plenty of silos and gorgeous barns for us to ogle in the Keystone state.
But really, we figured you guys probably get enough of those sort of pics on this here blog, and so instead we bring you the best photographic hits of the I-81 rest area bathrooms.
This one made both of us reach for another cup of coffee::

and this guy in PA made both of us do a sheepish double take to make sure we’d gone through the right door (we had.)::

Who knew what literary gems were awaiting near the hand dryers?
We take off from north of Boston in the morning – follow us via Erin’s Twitter feed to get regular updates from the road!

You girls are totally out of control. This road trip will go down into bohemian legend. Jack Kerouac and Thelma and Louise would be proud.
but don’t drive off the end of PEI when you get there!!! O.O
Let me know if you need a place to sleep on the return trip in North Western CT, you’re more than welcome. Have fun! Jen (aka ayearandaday on rav)
Waaa! North of Boston! You’re killing me! If you need a place to crash on the way down let me know. Have a fun road trip!!
If you decide to take the more direct route home, please let me know. I’d love to visit with you/take you out to dinner. I’m half way between Baltimore and DC.
I’m really impressed with the great time you’ve made on this trip.
It takes what, 4-6 hours to go through PA? I just remember it as the state I slept through when we went from VA to northern NY…
I’ve seen that VA rest area sign, though I’m starting to think it’s in all VA rest areas now…what few are still open!
I look foreward to reading more comments and viewing more pictures. Never know what will appear on the computer screen from you.
