The other day I made lentil soup (turned out more of a stew) in the crock pot. I put in an onion, some garlic, some celery and some carrots, all chopped. I added a 26 oz. can of chopped tomatoes, a bunch of spinach sliced into ribbons, 2 cups of lentils, about 2-3 cups of water, and a couple of small sausages from the freezer sliced into coins. I put it on high & left it alone for about 51/2 hours--when we got home it smelled GREAT and made an excellent dinner with some bread, fruit & salad. I'm definitely doing that one again.
