(It occurred to me this morning that Erin is often the Jim Fowler to my Marlin Perkins.)
Erin and I got up early this morning to go to the Chicken and Small Animal Sale hosted by our local feed store. We bought six laying hens- two Barred Rocks, three Silver Laced Wyandottes and one Black Australorp. The hens are sequestered to their coop for the next three days but I’ll take more pics this week.

That fourth photo down, taken out of context, is hands-down the most frightening thing I’ll ever see on Halloween. Er….have fun with those chickens. Can I get some eggs next week?
Every farm should have some chickens, have fun.
I love it!!! Sierra will be sooo happy to gather your eggs for you!!!
“While Jim wrestles the angry mother lion, I wait patiently for the cubs to emerge…”
snigger!
Geez – all I bought this morning was a new hair dryer.
Congrats on your new hens! I remember vividly my first hens coming home, on my 40th birthday. My dh drove like 60 miles to find me some organic laying hens, and then I got to wrangle them from the box into their coop, and it looked just like what Erin experienced. You’ll love having hens, they’re really fun, and there’s just nothing better than fresh eggs. Now your new home is complete
Marlin Perkins! Now that takes me back. My sister & I used to love acting it out with our sweet and tolerant cats . . .
marlin perkins…you just dated yourself…well, so did i if i remember mutual of omaha’s wild kingdom.
Perfect! And now Jim will reach into the cage to see if the deadly…..
But Erin is laughing in the end.
Also, did you notice in the first picture, the side of the box says “This box is designed for multiple uses”, and has been marked “Bring”. I should hope so.
Here we go, folks. Lets play Chicken in a Bucket!
I mean in the second picture.
So right! BwwwaaaAAAAAKKKKKK!!!!
Good job, Susie – you just watch from the safety of the Jeep
Erin the Chicken Whisperer…. love it!
