Probably something you would like…

You know, I thought I loved Halloween, but I can’t hold a candle to Megan over at Not Martha. Seriously y’all. Don’t believe me? Then behold...the meat hand.

Stunning right? Actually, I expect no less from the genius who gave the world the bacon cup. While you’re over there bowing down before her awesomeness, check out Megan’s fantastic Halloween links.

Homemade Candy Corn recipe. If you are so inclined.

There are just no words for how much I love this children’s bookcase.

I am also crazy about this minimalist nativity set.

DL_SledCoffeeTable_large

And this sled coffee table and rug very nearly did me in.

hazelnutpasta1

I can’t wait to make this Three Cheese Hazelnut Pasta.

Jamie Oliver’s Chicken in Milk recipe is also on my list (and not just because I love Jamie Oliver.) I want to try Saveur’s Buttermilk Bay Chicken recipe too.

And finally, this week’s award for things I wish I’d never heard of goes too…

Your turn. Show me some awesome.

Love the bookshelf so much.

I am very glad I hadn’t eaten recently before seeing the last link…

Lori aka knittingfool October 29, 2009 at 11:16 pm

I see no reason why that is a “children’s” bookshelf. And placentas are truly awesome organs (OK, I was a labor and delivery nurse). But. Does anyone cure and stuff their liver? Kidneys? Lungs?
Some folk have WAY too much time on their idle hands. Please, someone teach them to knit.

Kay October 29, 2009 at 11:38 pm

Of course, I had to click that last link…..I wish I hadn’t, too!

Cindy Telisak October 30, 2009 at 12:15 am

Yeah, in my doula days, we were fascinated by placentas, but about the weirdest thing we did was bury one in the backyard of the mom so she could plant a tree over it. Another childbirth educator once sent me a Word doc with recipes on it, but I won’t admit to ever opening that file. Pa-leez.

The worst thing about that last one? It’s actually kind of cute…

Katie October 30, 2009 at 6:27 am

Gross!!!!!! I had to click the last link as well, the temptation was too great. Now I’m skipping breakfast.

Felix October 30, 2009 at 6:38 am

I love that bookshelf and all your awesome.
If you haven’t already seen it, I thought you should see this yarn by Jamie Oliver:

…I think it is brilliant that he is processing the wool from the sheep that supply his restaurant with lamb. It’s a good bit of joined-up-thinking. I think it is more AWESOME for your list…

I really have to throw up now!!! I have been fighting off a cold and feeling nauseaus anyway and now I feel really really sick and can’t get the thought of that bear out of my mind! I think it is gross!

Why did I click on things I wish I’d never heard of? Pandora, opening the box. Still laughing at that link, and at myself for looking at it!

Sue (Olliepup) October 30, 2009 at 8:32 am

Why oh why did I click on the last link. Although I have a pretty much earth mother type daughter-in-law who I think buried the placenta from their second child in the yard. The teddy bear is cute until I remember what it is made of.

Rona October 30, 2009 at 12:12 pm

i’d like to have the tree bookshelf myself
very cool
the recipes look good…must look (i mean the chicken recipes NOT placenta …just in case there was any doubt!)

the placenta teddy is well…cute but
no thanks! (haven’t had any children and would probably be more ? grossed out if i had perhaps)

glad you are settling in easily with the help of family who do good picture hanging and unpacking. thank god for their presence and talents.

glad the flock is doing well
hope truman is alright and that you find a nice ram to get the job done
(maybe truman is gay?) (just kidding)(hey is that a goat joke?)

the weather here in california is definitely full of fall coolness
and i’m glad to be able to pop in here and connect with you all
it’s been a bit of an emotional time in the heart dept.
learning
always learning
and moving forward

much love to u all
happy friday & weekend

I love love love that bookshelf. I’ve got two things to share.

I saw this awesome link about crafts made out of packaging materials and immediately thought of sharing it via this post: http://en.spread-grani.com/package-craft.html

And I made these pumpkin chocolate bars for the second time, and all I can say is YUM! http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/pumpkin-chocolate-chip-squares

I think this is too awesome for words…Sheep Poo Paper Products. Puts a whole new twist on the concept of “green” products. I found them at:

Now I know what Xmas cards I’ll be giving this year.

Jenny October 30, 2009 at 8:51 pm

I emailed you my awesome because it’s not something I’ll ever post on a public space, but I want to request that whenever it is that I come visit you you make that three cheese hazelnut pasta! Damn, woman! That look some goooood!

PainterWoman November 13, 2009 at 1:45 am
