The Hierarchy of Candy at McSweeney’s

Short Imagined Monologues, also at McSweeney’s, never fails to make me smile.

I really want to go on this Murex, Cochineal, and Indigo! Oaxaca Natural Dye Workshop trip in February. [I hate this website! You have to click on the fourth workshop under "Fiber Arts" to see the one I mean.]

I love Smartwool Socks and this thread about similar products on Metafilter is great.

Megan at notmartha.org has put together a great list of Halloween links.

Cool article on Apartment Therapy about decorating with yarn.

I had never heard of Butter Tarts a week ago but now I am obsessed with them. Searching for them lead me to joyofbaking.com.  They have whole sections of pumpkin and lemon recipes I want to try.

This WSJ article about the end of the Island Cup football tradition kind of broke my heart.

Apparently this knitting craze is catching on…

I grew up near St. Louis, where Gooey Butter Cake is still one of the world’s most calorific Sunday morning traditions:

Note: If the recipe uses a cake mix and/or cream cheese, it is NOT real Gooey Butter Cake.

Love the balloon sculptures.

OMG I love buttertarts. The only pastry I will eat. You must have had a Canadian introduce you. It is one of our favourite foods. I certainly grew up on them.

Something I definitely like today: these pumpkin cinnamon rolls! http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/2009/10/01/beyond-pie-pumpkin-cinnamon-rolls/

Mine are almost done baking right now, and I’m topping them with this cream cheese icing: 8oz CC, 1/8-1/4c brown sugar, and 1/3ish cup maple syrup. Beat it all together, and try to save some for the rolls!

A surge in knitting because of the credit crunch? Do they have any idea how much money we blow on yarn? Knitting is not about saving money!
