So, in honor of Erin’s birthday, I’m going to tell you my very favorite Erin story. This summer, when I was feeling a little bit down, I was talking to Erin while we were driving to the farm. I said something whiney along the lines of, “But I’m going to be 40 soon and I’m going to be alone for the rest of my life.”
Erin slowly turned to face me and said, “I’m sure someone will find you acceptable.”
And they we both burst out laughing.
See, the thing is, Erin loves me too much to allow me to wallow in self-pity.
Here are some other things you should know about Erin:
Erin is the most fiercely loyal person I’ve ever met. She may be a little mean to me sometime, but if anyone else dares to be mean to me in her presence, she will kick their ass.
Erin is the hardest working person I’ve ever known.
Erin starts a lot of sentences with “People can’t just…” I keep saying I’m going to get a little notebook and write them all down for posterity.
Erin knows a lot about a lot of things.
Erin worked at Home Depot and she’s never afraid to try to fix anything.
Erin likes “good” beer and laughs at me when I order Blueberry Ale or Pumpkin flavored beer.
Erin has one of the world’s greatest laughs.
Erin eats butter and brown sugar mixed together out of a bowl with a spoon.
Erin hates having her picture taken, so she’s really going to hate this post. But her parents and god mother will love it.

But the crux of my comment goes to you, missy. This “I’m gonna be 40 soon and I’ll die alone” shit is ridiculous. I know – I usedta say the same silly thing. Then I met the Love Of My Life and I ended up on the other side of it, that place you recently posted about where the hard work and worry that came before is so small you can put it in your pocket. We were married 2 years ago and I’m almost 50 and he’s just past! So, no more of that nonsense. Finding deep abiding love and a beautiful lasting relationship is NOT only relegated to the lithe-bodied and tight-skinned among us. ;~)
