My sweet young friend Lauria has developed a strong attachment to the members of our flock, especially the kids she watched being born this Spring. And while we were planning the flock giveaway, she made it very clear that if we wanted to see our Angora goats go to the best possible new home we’d have to cast our net very wide.
In an effort to make sure we get essays from as many qualified candidates as possible, Lauria has come up with a giveaway for helping us get the word out. And the prize is pretty fantastic. All you have to do is blog or post on facebook, in appropriate ravelry groups, etc using the original giveaway url. You can also tweet about the giveaway but you must use the Tweet This link on the original post. We’ll track it with Google Blog Search for blog links and google site search for twitter.com links, then choose a winner at random among all the entries. Easy peasy, right?
And here’s what the lucky winner will receive, along with some info about the prize donors:
Giving Away: 360 yards of Alpaca / Bamboo Fingering Weight Yarn
This is an alpaca-bamboo blended yarn, spun up as a woolen 2-ply at 14 wpi (fingering weight). Finished yardage is 360 yards. Other handspun yarns and handdyed rovings are available at my store on Etsy.
Giving Away: Custom-Glazed Yarn Bowl with both a hole and a slot for easy removal of your project.
Giving Away: Project Box of Winner’s Choice
Stitchy Mushroom started when my friends wanted me to make them the box bags I was making for my knitting projects. I sew up lots of my favorite fabrics: Japanese prints, oilcloths, anything with sheep, and of course, mushrooms! These box bags are perfect for your knitting, crochet, stitching projects or anything else you can fancy.
Wire Dreams Design specializes in wire wrapped jewelry and polymer clay shawl pins. Shawl pins are handmade out of polymer clay, baked for the appropriate time and glazed for durability. All pins use recycled bamboo knitting needles for their closure so they’re great to use on those hand knitted favorites.

Wow, Lauria! Amazing job getting sponsors. And what an amazing give-away from Susan.
This is absolutely stunning!
You are the best!
Oh my gosh how fun! I wish we could afford to ship the flock to Georgia if we were to win, but this prize would be consolation enough.
What a great giveaway. I’ve helped spread the word. I sure hope you find someone terrific for your flock!
lol, happily will link to you about the giveaway of the flock. I so wish our current property could hold them but that is about 3 years off (and may be in canada) …gotta get daughter through college first!
I posted the original URL on facebook! I wish I had the space for them, but it would be awesome if a friend was the winner so I could visit!
I posted your giveaway to one of the livejournal communities at http://community.livejournal.com/go_go_goats/85220.html in the hopes that some of the members from the North/North East will participate. Good luck to all!
I really like what you all are doing! I just posted it on my blog here – http://goodgoats.blogspot.com/2009/09/free-starter-herd-of-angora-goats.html

You keep making it better and better!
What an amazing bunch of prizes! I was sad I couldn’t even consider getting goats, but am happy to spread thw word.
OK, I posted the URL on my facebook page. I’m afraid this contest is as close as I will ever get to being a shepherdess!
So far, I’ve posted on the Yahoo Spin-list group,
Hi Susan,
Posted your URL link and giveaway on Raverly forum group discussion: farmers daughters. Hope you get someone wonderful to select!
I posted on facebook! http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?id=1390598370&ref=profile
Okay, let’s see. I’ve tweeted about this three times so far, I’ve posted about it on my blog, and I chatted it up in a blog-conversation tonight… What else?
I don’t have Twitter or a Blog, but I posted the giveaway link in Spunky Club on Ravelry. I also told my mom about it over IM, and she’s going to tell the neighbors down the street (who raise milk goats and are looking to expand). I don’t know if the latter counts as spreading the word online though.
Just added this to my Facebook too, because I know there are some friends of friends who would love to see it. I also learned that my brother has a new girlfriend! I forgot how cool Facebook can be.
Tweeted! http://twitter.com/BigAshDog
Facebooked it too! And I’ll be sending a special e-mail to my Aunt!
What a generous offer! I posted a link to the giveaway in the Spin-cycle group on ravelry. I hope you find a wonderful home for your beautiful goats.
I posted a bit on my blog about your give away, but I’m wondering if I can use the photos from the giveaway to get more interest. I would love to win the flock but I’m not where I need to be yet to deserve them so I’d like to see them go to a great home.
This is a great idea! Lauria is awesome!
