You know what we need around here? A little something un-depressing, don’tcha think? I know I do!
Have you heard about the knitter attempting to knit 14 socks on one set of circular needles?
For the “why” of this little adventure, check out Brian’s blog posts, entitled “Because I can” parts 1, 2 & 3.
This goat tower is the coolest thing ever. End of discussion.
But this one’s pretty cool too.
While you’re on boingboing, you should check out the picture of the 3-and-a-half pound, deep fried hotdog.
I am loving these websites right now:homegrownevolution.com, the tweed cycling club (yup, they wear tweed and ride bikes), veggie trader (“I’ll give you 1500 pounds of zucchini for two tomatoes?”), Selvedge magazine- especially the crafts section, and the house on hill road.
It’s a few months old, but this L.A. Times article on Depression Survivors is worth reading.
If I had children, I would be making them all kinds of clothes using the adorable patterns at Oliver + S.
Here’s a nice round-up of wool sheep breeds.
Shepherding Camper Dee found a pattern for these gorgeous Endpaper Mitts that would knit up beautifully with our sock yarns.
These wildflower seed bombs are super-nifty! I want to carry them in my bag and throw them on the lawns of cranky people. Some wildflowers are just what they need…
Remember the goat tower I said was the coolest thing ever? Well this is the second coolest thing ever. I have already done this trick for everyone I know, but I am slightly allergic to bananas, so I have to make sure someone is willing to eat it before I peel, because I am deadly allergic to wasting food.
Speaking of bananas, have you played Bananagrams? It is really, really fun and you can play it will umpteen jillion people (or 2, if you prefer) of all different ages. And it’s fast.
That’s it for me. What’s rocking your world this week? Tell me all about it in the comments.

LOVE the banana tip and I would go try it immediately if I hadn’t already had a banana today. Also, there was an article in the Chicago Tribune today about some suburban ladies who seed bombed a vacant lot.
Love the banana tip. can’t wait to show my husband.
MUST GET GOAT TOWER!!!!!!!
I can’t wait to try the banana trick with Matt, it’s one of the only fruits he’ll eat. When do we start building a goat tower, that is too cool.
This goes back a ways: Remember when you blogged about “Rustic Fruit Desserts?” Well, I was seized by the whim to buy it immediately (somewhat unlike me), and I have been baking fruit desserts ever since. Not only that, every single thing I’ve made out of it has been delicious and gotten raves from the people I served it to. Thanks for a great tip!
I never knew the right way to peel a banana, either! (But then, I only just learned how to properly tie my shoelaces a couple months ago.)
That circular goat tower is very, very cool.
And Eunny’s Endpaper Mitts? I’ve admired them for years. Her blog has some of the most thoughtful, clear posts about lace yarn and knitting construction I’ve ever read. I’m thrilled that she’s editing over at IK these days, but I still miss her blog!
Hey, that circular goat tower is only an hour away from my brother’s house in Illinois…..and I’m going to be there at Thanksgiving. Perhaps when I need a break from all the family (and there will be a lot — they are having my niece’s bat mitzvah the Saturday after Thanksgiving), I will borrow my mother’s car and go for a drive in the country, in search of The Goat Tower.
I live about an hour from that awesome spiral goat tower. I don’t know why I haven’t gone to see it yet. A friend lives nearby and says that it’s an awesome sight to behold.
Learning more and more about dyeing fiber…Just yesterday I found this thread on Rav about dyeing yarn with avacado pits and peels!!! And what bee-uuu-tee-full colors it does make! Well, we eat a ton of avacados here…so there will be avacado dyed MVFF cormo in my future!
the sock guy? Too much!! lol
Love the other links! funky on the banana!
The socks???????
The Goat Tower – I want one. Who cares if I need it – I want it! Too cool!
I peeled my banana this morning and was quite giddy with the ease of it -never stop learning, even if it is a banana!
By the way – BananaGrams is so much fun – we play it all the time.
Oh no! I don’t believe it! We had a discussion around the dinner table tonight about the newest conspiracy theory. Everyone in our area has thousands of white clover growing in their yards this year. I think it is great because it is bringing the wild honey bees back into the yards and the gardens. Of course there are those who must mow twice a week and are very upset about the clover. (My neighbor) So the new theory is that there are those mysterious planes in the sky who are bombing the area with white clover seed. I must order a bag of seed bombs and allow my neighbor to get a slight glimpse. Her reaction would be too funny for words. Thank you so much for the idea.
Ooooo, entertaining AND educational! Love the goat tower!
The hotdog? gotta say, I’d try it, but I’d be lucky to finish half.
I love these posts. So much good stuff out there! Thanks for sharing
I’m definitely trying the banana trick for breakfast tomorrow. It looked so easy! I swear I’m going to be running around showing everyone I know lol
can’t believe the goat tower is real – it looks like a CG rendering.
here’s what’s rocking my world this week – knitting as political act: http://www.tabletmag.com/arts-and-culture/11338/sweater-girl/#0
Meg and I went out and bought fleece – YEP! from a local farm here… Meggie’s fleece are light, while my only one is really dark with sunbleach tips – but oh – can you ever see every little piece of whatever – - and my hubby made us GREAT combs !! Now, to rent a wheel (See Erin, you did inspire us!) and get spinning!!
Thanks to both of you for getting us on the track !! Now, there is no turning back!
