Prince Edward Island in June is a very different place than Prince Edward Island in November. In November, the Island was snow-covered and bleak. We saw approximately zero people outdoors and even fewer animals. It was not so lovely.
In June, Prince Edward Island lives up to it’s billing. The views are spectacular, the beaches inviting and every single person we met was kind and helpful. We were completely charmed by this Prince Edward Island.
Since we didn’t have our beach gear, we hit the two tourist attractions that we had been curious about last time we were there.
The College of Piping. Bagpiping that is.
And, naturally, The Potato Museum.
This sign is just on the other side of the 2-mile long bridge that takes you off the Island. Apparently they have very some very big moose in the Northern Maritime region of Canada. We didn’t see any, but I’m not giving up hope yet. According to a sign I see everywhere in New Hampshire, moose cause “Hundreds of collisions” here. It didn’t give a time period for these hundreds of collisions but I assume they mean yearly and not, say, weekly.
Either way, I’d say our chances of spotting one are pretty good.

Gotta make my vacation plans to see the Potato Museum.
Oooo I love the piping museum. That seems like a blast!
Sorry to hear about your phone.
Hope you have fun at Lake Squam today and that you drive safely afterwards.
I’ve been to the potato museum, and it was indeed awesome. I especially liked the illustrative models of potato diseases featuring cross-sectioned potatoes displayed in tiny coffins.
Hope you got to hear some awesome bagpipes, and had time to sit on a beach for a while! I love PEI – have dreams of cycling around it on vacation one day.
@LisaB: We took a cycling vacation there a few years ago, and it was really excellent. It’s quite easy to pedal from one end of the island to another and to see lots of beautiful scenery along the way. We stayed in B&B’s and went at a leisurely pace, stopping often for tasty seafood meals. If you get a chance to do this, you definitely should!
the moose hunt is on
maybe next time william could join you…maybe moose tend to come out sniffing small goat like types…
just a thought (outloud)

safe, happy travels!
Moose on the loose in NH: some years ago the NH DOT used to keep tab on the number of moose-vehicle accidents on Rt. 93; the signs would be updated with the actual numbers (just like McDonald’s used to keep tab on the number of hamburgers sold). Because the accidents were so frequent, the permanent signs were made to just indicate “hundreds” of accidents….
Can’t wait to hear about the Ravelry party!
The Potato Museum is great! How can you not love it? Our family went to PEI a few summers ago, and had a fabulous time. Isn’t it gorgeous?
