Meet the Staff

by Susan on June 17, 2009

Things have been so chaotic around the farm that I forgot to introduce you to our summer staff!dsc_0169

Emily started working for us last week and has already made herself indispensable. She recently graduated from McGill University in Montreal, with a degree in International Studies. She hopes to go into the foreign service. Emily has lots of experience with animals, including horses and her own bunny, Jellybeans.

Andie has already been with us for a few weeks and she brought the sunshine with her to the farm! Seriously, I have never heard this girl complain about anything, no matter what we ask her to do. Andie is a Creative Writing major at Maccalester College in St. Paul, MN, where she tells us the temperature sometimes reached -30 degrees. That’s 30 degress BELOW ZERO! But, according to Andie, once you get below -20, you can’t really feel the difference.

You’ll be seeing lots more of Emily and Andie as the summer progresses. I have complete confidence in both of them, which is a good thing, because both Erin and I will be away from the farm in NY next week. On Thursday we will be taking the sheep up to Martha’s Vineyard for the summer. Erin will remain on the Island all summer, but I’ll be bopping back and forth in between Shepherding Camp weeks.

It’s going to be a crazy, wonderful summer!

Yay! Welcome to the farm family!

Do either of you knit, crochet, or spin? Or do you just love animals?

We’re all so jealous that you get to “hang out” (read: do back-breaking labor) at the farm everyday, but I’m sure that you’re having a blast!

Alright Andi — did you tell them about Embarrass, Mn, (nearby my home) where it has recorded -60? I never want to experience that again.
