I had such a good time at Squam Lake and the whole time I was there I was wishing you all could be there too. So I brought back a little something for you.
This lovely yarn was dyed by this lovely woman, Heather, of Sereknity.
Heather is as sweet as strawberry pie and wicked talented. Her colorways were so gorgeous that it was difficult to chose just one. Luckily, I don’t have too. Heather will be our featured indie dyer soon, and she’ll be creating a colorway exclusively for our shareholders.
In the meantime, one of you lucky ducks is going to win the skein above for your very own stash. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post telling me why you should win. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. One entry per person, si vous plait. All entries must be in by Midnight, Thursday June 11, 2009. One winner will be chosen at random on Friday and the winner’s name will be posted right here. Winner will have 48 hours to contact us and claim your prize. Sounds fair?
Good luck, y’all!

When you look at your closet and try to figure out what colors you gravitate towards, I find myself going directly to those soothing cool colors. The mix is beautiful and anyone who knits with the flourish of colors will be thinking of the person who had the inspiration to use those colors. Thoughtful knitting!
“Squam” hmmm what does that mean? There are squamous cells in the body but the Algonquian peoples called this lake Keeseenunknipee = “the goose lake in the highlands” and the white settlers that followed shortened the name to Casumpa, in 1779 = Asquam, meaning “water”. Asquam was shortened to its present version, Squam in the early 1800′s. Interestingly enough, the movie “On Golden Pond” was filmed there and it is the nesting site for common Loons.
You can’t get more lovely and romantic than that. The colorway of the yarn incorporates all of the subtleties of the lake and the loons. I like the how those specific colors are represented.

It is incredibly lovely yarn, but after reading so many comments, I don’t have a good reason I should win. However, my school year is just about over and I will have some luxurious knitting time that I’d love to spend knitting such gorgeous yarn.
it’s so gorgeous and I’m knitting my first sock, so I feel like I can do anything now!! I would do something beautiful with this gorgeous yard!
The yarn is a dream. I should win since I would in turn hold a contest and give away a skein of yarn on my blog.
I should win the yarn because I would make it into something beautiful.
I should win because I have NEVER used a yarn as beautiful as that before!
Not only is heather a sweetheart she is funny and hilarious. Great woman with ridiculous talent.
I don’t need to be entered just wanted to add my props for heather!
I think I should win because that yarn is simply gorgeous and there’s no way I could afford it any time soon…
It look like it could become a wonderful pair of socks – colorful enough to delight me, but grown-up enough to wear to work… once I find a job, that is.
Oh, I need this skein!!! I have almost filled my Mother’s cedar chest with “must have it” yarns, please help me reach my goal! LOL
Hi there
I’d like to win because I’m in the UK and I’d love to try some different yarns from other countries.
LOVE Heather’s products. You are a lucky woman to have her coming to guest dye for you. Her yarn and rovings are simply wonderful. Thanks for all the great pics on your site. It lifts my spirits every day.
I should win because that yarn made me drool cadbury creme egg down my chin!
i should win because… for once everything seems to be going my way, and this would just be the icing on the cake? I know that makes it sound like I shouldn’t win, but the last several years have been long and hard, and now it seems that all our work is finally paying off. If I had some nice new snuggly yarn to knit with, I’d think I’d died and gone to heaven. Also, I’ll be moving to Ohio soon from Southern California, and that wool would probably get a lot of use keeping me warm next winter!
Because I’m a very nice person and I love knitting, it keeps me sane!
I should win just because.
Because…well just because I should!
I don’t know if I should win but I certainly would love to win.
This yarn looks like a stormy sky (clearing or coming would depend on the day you ask me). It would make an exquiste shawlette, I think.
I should win because this yarn makes me Squee! out loud
Plus I’m struggling holding onto a family roller coaster right now so a little extra Squee! is always appreciated
If I win, you’ll be able to say you have blog readers as far away as Hawaii! Of course I’ll keep reading even if you don’t pick me. Pretty yarn, perfect color for my little sister. Pick me please! Aloha
Why should I win? I don’t know. Because you love me?
Why should I win? Because I always try to support local businesses, and the Hudson Valley islocal for us folks in Troy.
beautiful colorway
I should win because everyone needs a little Sereknitty now! and i’m slightly in love with that colorway. ok maybe more than slightly. ok fine. i’m super in love with that colorway.
That is beautiful yarn. I would love to make a hat or scarf in those soft colors. They look like the colors in the clouds over the mountains nearby. I really enjoy your photos of the mill and the lambs! Thank you!
I should win because I am on a self-imposed yarn diet and I’m jonesing something fierce for new yarn – but so far I am resisting
I think it would be great to win because i very rarely get an opportunity to try indie dyers and luxury yarns, all of the yarn budget is pretty much going to wedding stuff these days.

I should win ,so that I can make something for the new grandchild due any minute. He will be my first grandbaby, and he needs to know about wool from the start.
I should win because I need something to keep me busy while we all wait for our share of the spring shearing!
Losing a job does not diminish the lust for adding to the stash! I feel a new project coming on!
Hi…A friend suggested that I view your site. I am a Volunteer Craft Instructor at a local hospital and we use only donated yarn to knit baby hats, socks, mittens, baby blankets and large knitted hospice quilts. We are in need of yarn, since many of our members are so fast and efficient that our beautiful creations are churned out faster than our supply. It would be great to connect with others, too. Many of our Knitters are cancer patients and this weekly meeting is so important to them. It helps provide an uplifting, positive outlet, when they attending the group. We always smile when we say….”It’s not JUST about knitting”. Our group is so much more to them and to our community at large….Thanks for your interest….Lin
