Happy Shearing Day!

Today is the most important day of the year on the Fiber Farm, and not just because we’re expecting a couple of hundred people at our house. Spring shearing is our biggest because it’s the only day the sheep are sheared for a whole year. (Goats are sheared twice a year.) Usually we would we shearing up to 50 animals today, but due to last night’s rain, we’ll only be able to do the 10 that we barned last night.

For those of you who can’t make it today due to distance or other commitments, have a wonderful day and know that I am wishing you were here.

I’ll be there in spirit – cheering on the sheep shearers and the fiber celebrators! Maybe I should get a haircut just to be a part of it all!

Happy shearing day Susan — I wish I could be there — I keep telling myself you’re not THAT far from Toronto, maybe next year! Have a fabulous day!

I wish I were there, too! I have fallen in love with your farm and go to the site the first thing after I turn on my computer. I am hoping next year I will be able to drive the couple of hundred miles to be there in person.

Since you have 40 more sheep to shear, when will you do that and can you get that on lambcam or video for us city folks who have never been around animals? I have been enjoying the lambcam and the insight it has given me about life on the farm: the all night vigils, the rain, the mud, the glorious sun, airing out the yurts, etc.
Thank you!!!

I’m so glad that you were able to shear some of the sheep! And it was a lovely day for you! :)

Hope you had a blast and I look forward to meeting you!!!!!

I thought of you so many times today and wished I could be there but Connecticut and my 87 year old mother were tops on my list. My mom is still knitting away – probably the worlds best knitter at 87!Hope you had a great day.
