It’s friday, and you know what that means, right? It’s time to share all the neato torpedo things we’ve found this week. I’ll go first:
Shareholder and fiber farm friend Emily has revealed her next design as part of her Family Trunk Project. Emily is mad talented. I don’t say this often, but I really envy Emily’s skills.
Girls Gone Child has written a beautiful blog post about starting over. I fear this is something that many, many people will have to do before this economic crisis ends.
Yarn bombing is suddenly everywhere. Like here. And here. Oh, and here.
I am crazy in love with these toy blocks.
Is growing an award-winning giant pumpkin one of your goals for 2009? Better get started. These things don’t happen over night, you know.
Speaking of gardening, do you know about growveg.com? It’s maybe the greatest website ever. There is a tool that lets you map out your vegetable garden to scale. Then you can choose what you want to plant and it will should you exactly how far apart the various vegetable seeds or seedlings have to be, what can be planted next to what, and whether you need to direct sow seeds or start them indoor and when you need to plant to harvest at the proper time. It costs $25/year to join the site and get full functionality but you can try it free for 30 days. If you’re planning a vegetable garden this summer it’s worth every penny.
I just discover these soil blocker makers and I’m super-excited about them. They eliminate the need for those plastic seedling containers and they transplant better.
I discovered Lisa Congdon’s art when she contacted me about doing a painting based on a photograph of Liberty, one of our Cormo ewes. She promised to send me a print of the painting- I’ll post it hear when she does- but check out her other animal paintings. They are lovely.
These dog pillows are so very tempting. As are these whimsical embroidered wall hangings.
My friend Sara knits the most beautiful, heirloom quality toys. I’ve purchased several of these as gifts.
Can’t wait to read this. And this. And the mountain of back New Yorker issues I’ve been saving up for when the book is really and truly finished.
Okay, your turn to share. Post your links in the comments.

I’m not able to find any way to contact you from your website – what am I missing?
Aww, thanks for the mention, Susan!
Have you actually used growveg.com?
I just ask because it looks great! and I am starting to be very serious about my veggie gardening. I get kind of wary when it comes to spending money on internet based programs.

Is it ok to do give myself a pat on the back and self promotion here? If not, my deepest apologies. I don’t mean to step on any toes. I’ve spent the past several weeks (even giving up lots of knitting time) to set up my etsy shop: http://www.gracesheese.etsy.com
I’m so excited that it’s up and running!
