We are only 27 days away from the start of kidding and lambing. Can you believe it? It seems like it was only a few weeks ago that we put the Buck Fifty and Lincoln in with the nanny goats and the ewes. Seems like it to me anyway; some of these nanny goats look like they are fixin’ to explode any minute now! You will definitely want to click these to enlarge them.
Before the blessed event begins we need to come up with a naming convention for the kids and the lambs born on the farm this year. Not long ago I asked ya’ll to nominate your ideas and boy did you! We had more than 90 comments, all of them with really great suggestions.
Here’s how we narrowed the field: I read through the suggestions with the staff (i.e. Patrick, Erin and Harry.) Anyone could nix an idea for any reason, no questions asked.
Now we need your vote. Everyone gets one vote for kid names and one vote for lamb names. Feel free to mix and match. I’ll leave the voting open until Sunday and then I’ll tally the votes and announce the winners.
And the nominees are:
Names of states Texas, Virginia, Maryland, etc. I LOVE this one and this might be the last year we can use it because it might be the last year we have 50 or less babies.
Names of Cities of the World: Paris, Lisbon, Seattle, Athens, etc. Another great suggestion.
Towns in Massachusetts for the kids and towns in New York for the lambs. Or vice versa.
Font names: LOVE THIS ONE!
Names of musical instruments: This one is probably Erin, Harry and my favorite because there are so many cool names. Piccolo, Trumpet, Timpani, etc.
Actors: Old movie actors for the lambs, current actors for the kids. (Bogart, Bacall, etc.)
Artists: Picasso, Van Gogh, Pollock, etc.
Composers: I like this one but I’m a tad concerned that I don’t know enough of them. (Margaret and Edwina, you’ll have to help out if this one wins!)
Characters from Annie: Okay, I know this one sounds goofy, but after reading Jenny’s nomination, we all loved it! Of course, we all love Jenny so that may have diminished our objectivity. But take a moment to look at all these great names:
Daddy Warbucks
Miss Hannigan
Mr. Bundles
Grace
Rooster
Lily St Regis (named after the hotel)
Annie
Punjab
Asp
Molly
Pepper
Tessie
Kate
Duffy
July
FDR
Eleanor Roosevelt
Bert Healy
Boylan Sisters
Drake
Mrs. Pugh
Mrs. Greer
Saunders
Frick
Frack
Crayola Crayon Colors: another great suggestion from Kate, who we also love. Kate also suggested Red Sox players, but Patrick is a Yankees fan and would rather set himself on fire.
Okay, those are your candidates. I would love to see everybody vote, even you lurkers! (I’m talking to you Dad. And Carrie. And Jordan. And Matt.) Seriously, this is democracy in action. Don’t sit on your hands and then spend the next four years hating whatever wins.
The polls are officially…open.

Hmm. The Crayola Crayons are a great idea, and the Fonts could lead to some really fantastic names, but my vote’s going to the old actors. I think you deserve a Cary Grant, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Grace Kelly and so on in your life, and certainly your flock is photogenic enough!
I like musical instruments for the kids and artists for the lambs or vice versa but it just seems more *right* to me that way.
my vote is for font names.
I think my top vote is for Massachusetts/New York towns, but Crayola colors is a close second.
The actors get my vote, and maybe the artists or Crayola for my second choice.
I vote for states for the lambs and cities of the world for the goats! All the suggestions are awesome, though.
I vote for characters from Annie, provided you name one of them Sandy after the dog.
My vote is the font names!
I vote for musical instruments and artists also.
Ok, I’m totally with the font names as well.
Mainly because some of my favorite fonts have great names:
Mistral
Albemarle
Cassia
Georgia
Vivaldi
Kaiti
Fancy Pants
Isadora
Avignon
Creampuff
Well, you see what I mean.
I like the Annie names because they’re so quirky.
Font names! This would make my day.
Font names!
I personally think composers would be awesome. but i am a nerd.
I like the states idea – use it while you can!
Font names.
I’m for the musical instruments; think oud, digeridoo, dobro, zither, lute, mandolin, banjo, cymbals, timbrel, tambourine…
Use the states while you can. But however, none of the other suggestions are bad.
I like the musical instruments idea. There’s my vote!
Font names!
I vote for the musical instruments first and the state names second! What a lovely idea.
fonts for kids. musical instruments for the lambs. amazing ideas, all of em!
i really like the crayola crayon colors!
I love the international cities and the actors. This is so much fun!
If this is likely the last chance to use States, I vote do that, and keep the others for options for future years.
Fonts!!!! Okay, this is such a cute idea! I love Comic Sans, Verdana, Lucidio, Euphemia, Palatino… So many great options!
(This is a tough decision). But seriously, if fonts are voted in, we need a Comic Sans.
I like the names of States for the kids and musical instruments for the lambs – or vice versa.
States should be used while you can..
Fonts is good one.
Old Actors!
I like the old/new actors idea!
I vote for the towns in NY and Massachusetts. That should be fun!
I love old movies. My vote is for the actors, both old and new.
My favorite is the musical instruments…
But, if it’ll be the last year, states would be awesome as well. Lots of creative ideas for the naming convention!
I vote for old actors and cities.
This is tough. I like either fonts or composers for one, and Annie stuff for the other.
Although naming one composers and one instruments could be a cute thing to do.
States for the lambs, Cities for the kids.
I JUST LOVE many of the other ideas, but save them. Use the states whiles you can.
I like musical instruments for lambs and composers for kids. Kind of coordinates.
Fonts….as long as you don’t saddle some poor innocent sheep with the name Comic Sans
I love the Crayons and Artist names! So many fun possibilities. Critter names could even be used to help determine dye colors for the yarn or vice versa.
Annie and musical instruments. You know since one is a musical…
I absolutely LOVE the names from Annie! Most perfect. I would also vote for the musical instruments, because they are so unique–and—well—musical. Using the state names while you can makes sense, but they just don’t sound “personal” enough to me.
definitely fonts: Tahoma, Verdana, Furtiger, Calisto, etc.
So hard to choose. I started to say unequivocally that it should be cities of the world, but then all the comments reminded me of the fabulous font names. Like “3 Hour Tour.” So, my official ballot says “FONTS.”
Oh! Someone else said this and I love it! Musical instruments for kids & composers for lambs. Or vice versa. Totally cute. Paganini! Picolo! Saint Sans! Elgar!
*grin* Awesome.
I have to go with Annie names and font names. Both have so many great possibilities. For some reason I see Annie names for the kids and fonts for the lambs. I don’t know why. Maybe goats make me think of the 1930’s? Or maybe its because they have so much spunk. Anyway, that’s my vote!!
I vote for State names, followed by Annie.
All of the suggestions are wonderful!
I vote for Annie names, hands down. Darling!
Use the state names while you can! I liked the idea that suggested coordinating by using state names for the kids and cities for the lambs.
Actors!
Anything but Annie names, frankly. I’m in the musical theatre biz and I really reeeeeeallly hate that show.
Musical instruments all the way!
I love the Annie character names for the kiddos and the old movie star names for the lambies. This is too fun!
I like the Musical Instruments. Music puts a smile on everyones face and so as to the lambs and kids. They just go together.
I vote for font names and instruments.
I guess fonts for kids and instruments for lambs!!
since the state names might not be an option by next year, i vote for THE STATES!!!
Like state names and fonts
Well, I promised my daughter she could have this vote and so, need I even say it?, it’s gotta be Annie names for us! (she and her baby brother were Annie and Sandy a couple years back for Halloween)
I really want the fonts! I’m looking forward to seeing little Helvetica and Garamond gamboling around.
To echo several others, I vote for the state names while it’s an option (followed by fonts and then the Annie characters, both of which are awesome and hilarious).
I like States for kids, and cities for lambs! (But I might be based with the states, lol.
I say states for one (while you can still do it), and cities of the world for the other.
How fabulous would Dublin, Kinshasa, Sydney, Juneau, Jakarta, Pamplona, Pisa, Accra, Dakar and (my favorite!) Darjeeling be??!!
Go with the state names and city names this year. If you coordinate the birth order of the lambs with the order that the states became a state and name the kids with the capitol city of that state, then we would all know the birth order, too.
What a great poll! My vote is for the musical instruments, particularly fond of the Tuba!
OK so obviously I like the Annie names, but I also LOVE fonts and old actors! Gene Kelly the goat! Love it!
But mostly I’m writing here to tell you in the most public way possible because I’m so damn excited that today, on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Ken asked me to marry him and I SAID YES!
I’M ENGAGED! To that tall guy who you can’t say I made up because at this point you’ve MET him.
We’ve been drinking champagne all evening and calling people from our hotel room in Carmel, so I thought I’d check my email and here was your post, so here I’m telling you.
Love you all! I’m getting MARRIED!!!
I think crayon colors for the kids and fonts for the lambs. My second choice is the musical instruments
.
I vote for the fonts and the musical instruments! And I’m really voting for the latter because I hope you name one of the lambs Sackbutt.
I am jumping on the font name train!
Definitely font names! I’ve never heard of anyone else using them either.
Font names!
i can’t pick just one
i’m torn between these two
font names and musical instruments
feel free to extrapolate just one
i can’t
tuba would be a really cool name
but so would papyrus
so…those are my two fav choices of name Types (pun not intended
)
love
rona
i’m tied between musical instruments and annie characters.
I like the states next fonts
I like the names of states and the international cities… and I vote for States… nothing like being patriotic and representing… Minnesota should be in the line up!! (sorry, I’m biased cuz that’s my home state!!) and we should use it now before there’s more babies then states!!!
I agree with you, state names and fonts are both great ideas.
What great categories!
As you can guess, I’m going to vote for composers and musical instruments…composers for the lambs and instruments for the kiddies…we’ve got names up the wazoo in both categories should you need any help!!
Ooooh! Composers, definitely!!! How neat would it be to have a Tartini, Sibelius, Janacek, Barber, Schubert, and Mompou in the flock!
(for the lambs)
Musical instruments for the kids!
Hi, I vote for the musical instruments!
oooh. I vote for font names and Annie… cute!
I like the actors. Specifically – I am adding to this – Lucille Ball. Hey Lucy!
I vote for Crayola crayon colors and fonts. Distributed to kids vs lambs as you see fit.
1. Fonts
2. States
3. Crayons
i’m sticking with ARTISTS! but i also enjoy FONTS!! cool.
states for lambs and musical instruments for kids or vice versa
I vote for using the states since this is the last year you might be able to do this for the kids and I love the font names for the lambs.
Artists names and Annie characters
I vote for cities of the world (I would be thrilled to see a baby lamb named Valletta) and for the kids I vote for old actors.
I like the state names with crayola colors being a close second.
Fonts and crayola crayons
I like the musical instruments and the artists. Hmm, Lambs as instruments and goats as artists sounds good..
Font names! But you have to name someone Blackadder!
I like the Massachusetts and New York names, but what a lot of great suggestions!
If this, most likely, is your last chance to use the states’ names, I’d go that route and save one of the other ideas for next year. Then, I’d go with the fonts! There are some really great (and odd) font names out there. Make sure you name a boy Mighty Zeo Caps because that’s the font we use for our comic book, Johnny Saturn. Great font!
I vote for font names, but I also like the idea of state or city names so you might want to use it while you can!
I vote for states…. Texas of course!!! And most of them I can pronounce, unlike some of the other choices! LOL!
Carla
My vote’s for characters from Annie (even tho I am a fontaholic! Choice number 2: musical instruments. Hmmm, flute, bongo, lyre, cello, sax….
Instruments for the lambs
Composers for the kids (I happen to have a CD collection in progress from IMP and have the book that tells me ALL the composers starting with Hildegard of Bingen 1098-1179), so trust me – there are plenty of composers to go around.
The musical instruments for sure!! Viola, Piccolo, oh it’s too lovely
I like the states! We need a Georgia.
Fonts are my 2nd choice.
The names of the states! Those are somr awesome ideas for names.
Wow, what great choices! I have to go with the states this year though, if you think next year you’ll have more babies than we have states. I LOVE Valerie K’s suggestion to name them in birth order based on when the state became a state (it’d be educational too…!). States for one and state capitals for the others. I honestly like all the ideas, so whatever gets decided will be great. And, congrats to Jenny on her engagement!
I like Cities of the World. Paris is a nice name.
I am torn between the names of instruments and the names of Annie characters, but the students in my class (16 second, third and fourth graders) all think that you should go for the names from Annie(it is one of their favorite musicals and last year they performed “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile” at our end-of-year celebration). When in doubt, trust the kids!
The font names are clever.
I like the musical instruments suggestion, partially because the names are mostly short, and partially because of the mental images they evoke (for me, anyway). For instance, I would name a lamb Piano because the word is also used to mean *soft* in musical terms. Otherwise, I’d probably reserve the names of percussion instruments for the goats….
There are so many choices! Wikipedia lists 482!
My vote is for Massachusetts town names because it is a tried and true strategy. The Kennedy Biscuit Company (later Nabisco) named its cookies after nearby towns. The result? Fig Newtons! Although I once read that they were almost named Fig Shrewsburies–not as catchy.
You simply can’t argue with success!
since this may be the last chance, I am going to vote for the states. and my second choice will be the crayons. I was honored to be a finalist….and certainly wouldn’t want Patrick to set himself on fire….!
there are some really great ideas here……
Kate
Chalk up one more vote for State names!
Susan, true democracy relies on the secret ballot -everyone feels secure to vote their conscience, and those of us already in power can manipulate things from behind the scenes! Since I can’t rig the election, all these votes being public, I want to go on the record with:
Names of States – This is my top choice because they’re great names and it probably is the last year we can use it. If we have seperate schemes for kids and lambs, I’d say states for the kids.
Font names – I absolutely love this idea – my second choice, or if we have 2 conventions, font names for the lambs.
I’m saving instruments for next year.
ETA: I swear to goat, I did not read everyone else’s votes before entering mine – and just saw that I picked the same ones as my mom! Jinx! Love ya, mom!
My vote goes to musical instruments! Runner up – font names.
I have to go with state names only because I have a great grandmother (or great great) who carried the name – Maryland Alabama Virginia. For several generations after the eldest daughter name began with Mary (Mary Imogene, Mary Gayle, etc.). Love the tradition and wish that I had that known of that convention when naming my girl. If not for that, I’d have gone for Font names as it is such an unusual idea that I never would have thought of.
I like Ms. Amelia or Amapola
Old movie star names!
My vote is for fonts and music instruments
I stuck my head out the door and tried calling out various names to see how they sounded. I like several of the suggestions…the characters from Annie are my vote. So many of them seem fitting for a flock!
Have fun!!! Thanks for everything.
I vote for fonts! I am font obsessed, so how cute would it be to have wee ones running around with such lovely names
I vote for the Crayola crayon colors!
I love the characters from Annie idea!
I vote for Characters from Annie and Musical Instruments (they go together well in my mind). And if you end up doing musical instruments I’d love to point out Marimba and Bell as possible names, just because I love them as names but could never name a child that.
I vote for the State names there could be some great nick names….and now that the pressur is off to come up with great ideas I have had one….presidents and first ladies names…..maybe next years
Font names! I want to meet a kid named Wingdings…
I vote for Annie names.
Well I’m a fiddle player, I like the Musical Instruments idea. And you don’t have to limit it to instruments in the Western Classical tradition either. There are all kinds of instruments from other cultures with lovely names! Mbira is one of my favorites. Thanks for letting us help with names!
I’m going with the actors – because I’m addicted to celebrity gossip. Listen, you have your Diet Pepsi and your butter & sugar concoction, I have my Perez Hilton.
I vote for the FONT names! They sound perfect for the coming lambies! Crashbang should be a hoot of a lamb, prolly a boy, or a very feckless lil girl!!
My vote is for font names! (I’m an editor who is in love with fonts and knitting. Seems a perfect combo to me!)
Another vote for FONTS.
I am late coming to this discussion but for next year, I nominate names of islands (Capri, Kauai, Ibiza, Bermuda, etc. ) for the Vineyard born babies.
Gotta go with the font names! (which one is going to be Helvetica?)
Gonna have to go with Actor Names! Fun! Can’t you just see a little Fred Astaire or Marylyn Monroe running around?
Personally, I can’t wait to have a farm one day and have enough animals to name them all after character in Jane Austen novels. At least I have a new baby chick dubbed Lady Catherine.
I vote for the musical instruments for the goats. I think it would be so cute to have a little Piccolo kid running around!
As for the lambs…I vote for the Annie characters.
Font names! (And musical instruments for the kids, if we’re choosing 2 different sets of names…)
I think state names would be good. Really, more than 50 little ones? Boggles my mind.
Towns from MA and Towns from NY. Can’t wait to hear Boston, Brooklyn (sounds a little like Posh and Becks family!)
I like Frick and Frack!
Little Orphan Annie for sure!!!! My sister and I watched that movie everyday for at least two years straight. Everyone needs a Daddy Warbucks on their farm.
Crayola Crayons! What a great idea. It’s time to see how many I can actually remember. A magenta kid and a sienna lamb – what fun!
Ilike the idea of the CRAYOLA colors for the KIDS names because no matter how old you are you feel like a kid when you’re coloring
FONTS for the lambies.
I like the old actors and young actors as my first choice and for my second choice is for the states but they are all good ideas.
My vote is musical instruments for the kids and font names for the lambs (or vice versa).
Gotta be font names, it just sounds really cool!
So many great choices – use states while you can. Crayolas, actors and fonts are all wonderful.
tickled to death! cause one of my favorite books of all time has humans encountering a race of centaurs who are obsessed with music, and they all have instrument names: like Valiha Aeolian Solo Madrigal, and Hautbois, and Didgeridoo, Hornpipe, Psaltery, Dulcimer, Castanet,…..what could be better than a kid named Hornpipe??? So that’s my vote!
I vote font names
I like the names of old stars, but I would also like to suggest “Zimmernan” and “Honk” as name possibilities, if that’s allowed.
I vote for the names of States, especially if you think this will be the last year you have less than 50 babies.
I like the actors idea — just think how much fun it would be to blog about Merryl Streep, Ed Harris, Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis, and Errol Flynn on a regular basis!
I vote for Crayola colors for the lambs, and musical instruments for the goats….
I like the idea of the names of states.
I love movies so my vote is for actor’s names – old and new.
In case you need a tie breaker my second choice would be font names.
MA town names for one, and font names for the other. Yep.
(Sorry NY, but I’m a New Englander at heart)
I vote for the 50 state names! Perhaps you could do 50 states for the lambs and then the state capitals for the kids?
Fonts!!!
Ariel
Bell
Constantina
Curlz
Harrington
and so many others!!!!
There’s so many good ideas – almost too many! I guess I really like the idea of musical instruments – ‘piccolo’ is just too great a name to pass up! I also like the idea of using character names from “Annie”.
While it’s not my favorite idea, I would use the state’s names while you can. I really like the font names idea!
mmmmm .. States first, since it may be the last time you can use them, would you do east and west of the Mississippi?? Second …..really hard but leaning toward composers, – classical for the lambs – Bach, Elgar, etc, musicals/modern for the goats?? Rodgers, Hammerstein????
I think the younger generation needs font names – it’s all about computers these days, and they need to keep up! How about that for the goats. For the sheep, I like names of instruments.
I like the old Actors! That one would be awesome!
i liked the font names!!
Characters from Annie and Crayola colors!
Seems like you should use states while you can.
but i do like the mass and ny town ideas.
I think Fonts would be my first choice (have you seen the movie about Helvetica? Who knew fonts could be so interesting?), but I could also get behind musical instruments.
Fonts – that would be excellent
I and throwing my hat in for Font names. Just not Cosmic Sands.
I vote for the Annie names.
Font names!
I vote state names for lambs and Annie names for kids. (use the state names now while the number still works & keep the font names in reserve for next year b/c it is a great idea)
States!
Font names. The idea of blending a technological convention with cute-as-can-be sheep is just too charming to resist. I have to admit, however, that the Annie characters is a close second – what an unusual suggestion!! I like the Crayola crayons too, but might that get kinda confusing when describing dye lots – “We are so proud of the magenta we got from Turquoise” or even worse “Enjoy our sienna from Sienna”!
I really liked states, but then I saw fonts and changed my mind. There are so many lovely font names!
State names appeal to me, so that’s my vote. Good luck to all the mamas to be.
Fonts — because I think Palatino would make such a great name for a goat — and Annie names — so I could one day pet a sheep named Daddy Warbucks!
I lOVE the names Punjab and Daddy Warbucks from Annie. Close second would have to be fonts. THose could be for either, I think!
Crayola Crayons. Since the fleeces will be spun into thread, and thread then gets dyed into colors.
I love the font names, first, and second, artists. Better pick quickly, judging from the photos.
I really liked the suggestion of musical instruments for lambs and composers for kids (or the other way around.) But font names were a tempting, close second choice!
Those are really tough choices, but I’m going to say:
Lambs: US states (cause it may be your last chance)
Kids: World cities (to kind of match the states)
I would definitely keep font names, musical instruments, and old movie stars as choices for the next few years!
I love the Annie characters (my daughter played July in a production by our community players last Fall), but I also love the names of Massachusetts/New York towns. Naming babies is so much fun!!!
Those are some really great ideas! I love the cities of the world or old movie actors.
Those are all really good! I think you should use the names of states while you still can!
I am all for Font names too!
I like the towns in MA and NY idea.
My vote goes to musical instruments.
instruments and artists!
Love the idea of font names!
Place names in any form are a close second for me, though. The cities of the world would probably have won out if there weren’t so many cool options among font names!
I like the idea of state names. Of course, being a native of Virginia, I think that lamb needs a non-state-name companion — Santa Claus (as in, yes, Virginia, there is a…) The alternative would be to give Virginia a middle name, Creeper.
Of course, Georgia would need a middle name as well, Peach. You get the idea.
Have fun.
Names of States.
Classic film actors and actresses for my first choice, and fonts for my second. Cities of the world for my third, in case you need a tie breaker.
I’m voting for font names! Garamond for the win!
Fonts. Because it’s so unexpected, and some of the font names are really fun!
I like fonts a lot!
But since music is my business, I see lots of possibilities for the musicians and artist names too. I actually like their first OR last names for the sheep. You mentioned you wanted some ideas along these lines:
Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn (bother and sister)
Clara and Robert Schumann (husband and wife)
Johann Sebastian Bach (I think any one of these names would be so great. You could use all three for triplets!)
Anna Magdalena Bach (Bach’s second wife, a great singer)
Some Renaissance names:
Josquin (wrote lots of great vocal motets and masses)
Luca (Marenzio)
Carlo (Gesualdo)
Claudio Montiverdi
Orlando di Lasso
Giovanni Palestrina
William Byrd, English
John Dowland, English
Madrigal, Motet, Frottola, Lauda, Kyrie, Gloria, Domine, Canon, some Renassiance vocal forms I thought would be cool names too.
Some Baroque Names:
Francois Couperin
Corelli
Vivaldi
Torelli
Marini
Frescobaldi
Caccini
Carissimi
Geminiani
Rameau
Lully
Henry Purcell
George Fredrick Handel
Pachelbel
Biber
Buxtehude
Telemann
LeClair
Baroque instrumental forms: Chaconne, Sonata, Lachrymae, Pavane, Suite, Pastorale, Concerto, Allemande, Gigue, Ricecare, Fantasia, Canzona, Cantata, Magnificat, Oratorio, Passion
Classical:
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Nannerl, Mozart’s nickname for his sister Maria Anna
Leopold
Sammartini
Scarlatti
Franz Joseph Haydn
Beethoven
Maria Magdalena (Beethoven’s mom)
Antonie Brentano (Beethoven’s “immortal beloved”)
Josephine (another Beethoven love)
Giulietta (Beethoven dedicated the Moonlight Sonata to her)
Classical forms: Sinfonia, Aria, Opera, Comique, Ballade, Buffo, Oratorio
Opera Names:
Orfeo, Euridice, Poppea, Fairy Queen, Tempest, Jephtha, Lucia, Tito, Giovanni, Zauberflote, Figaro, Leporello, Donna, Elvira, Susanna, Marcellina, Sarastro, Tamino, Pamina, Queen of the Night
THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH, can you tell I am avoiding work?
But if you would like some Romantic and 20th century lists, there is more where this came from. Dunno if that is good or bad, but there is more.
Best
How to choose? I would go with the states(lambs) and cities(kids) this year and save the others for following years.
Crayola colors is my vote… the large box, of course!
Happy wishes to all…
Hands down … FONT NAMES
I would like to see old actors and font names. I would suggest that whichever will be the most character-like of the two, lambs or kids, ought to have the old actor names. You might even name them based on observed traits! Font names like Bookman and Chancery sound neat and regal/stoic/victorian, which is my reasoning for using these for the more stoic of the two (lambs or kids).
Definitely old movie stars…
Font names! Or cities of the world, I’d say.
SUSIE! I have an idea…. you did all the presidents, lets do presidential first ladies, first names and presidents first names for the males… Jackie and John, George and Barbara, Barak and Michelle, Lyndon and Ladybird… George and Martha…
State Capital Names… Albany, Sacramento,
anyway, I get a little carried away with my ideas…
I’m voting for the musical instruments! I love the sound of Piccolo! Maybe string instruments for the kids and reed instruments for the sheep?
I like the State names. would pictures be posted so I can keep track of Kentucky?
Fonts! Especially since this was around the time you got a techno-update and set up the lamb-cam. You can commemorate it with computerish names.
But then the argument of using the states names before you have more than 50 babies to name deserves consideration . . . .
I am a graphic designer so my vote goes to the font names!
FONTS! I personally can’t wait to see who gets to be name Helvetica.
#1 Musical instruments – there are a lot of great ones – strings, brass, woodwinds
second choice – cities of the world. Florence Nightingale was named after a city. I once knew a Milan, too. Cool names.
Fonts would make me think of work too much.
I vote for mass/ny town names.
I vote for the states and cities , use them while you can.
Musical instruments all the way baby!
Since its your (likely) last chance: states for one, MA or NY cities for the other.
All the other ideas are great and worth saving for another season.
I like the font names and musical instruments. (Though I see state names is getting a lot of votes. If state names do win, can I petition for a baby named after a Canadian province, for your Canadian members?
)
Names of musical instruments gets my vote!
Names of States for the Lambs
Names of Cities of the World for the Kids
my vote is for MA/NY towns. how fun could that be!!!
Can I vote for three things? I go for states first, then musical instruments, then cities in MA.
THe musical instruments would be *cool*, but yeah on having enough for the 50 states.
I vote for vote names. Imagine a little Arial, Corbel, Bookman, and even Wingdings! I love it
Woops, I meant font names. I got so excited I forgot what I was typing!
Annie names for kids and musical instruments for lambs!
This is fun.. I like the font names and crayola colors. I like the crayola colors of dandelion, thistle, tumbleweed, razzle dazzle, periwinkle, orchid… makes me excited for spring!!!! Oh can I say my first crocus popped up today in virginia after getting 8 in of snow last monday!
O.K. States for the sheep (the 50 or less and cousin Julie convinced me) Artists for the goats, because they’re SO-O-O artistic!
I am a geek and Web Developer so I feel obligated to go with the Font Names! There really are some awesome font names out there too! However so many of those ideas were good!
i vote musical instruments for the kids and composers for the lambs. i can help with adding more composer names too.
Names from Annie is my first choice; musical instruments is second.
After hearing my coworkers talking this morning about the fonts they were using for certificates they were designing, I am going to have to vote for the font names. I like the idea of different naming conventions for the sheep and goats, but I think the font theme is so rich that this time around they could share the naming theme with plenty of names to spare.
Musical Instruments and Crayola colors are my pick
I vote for fonts for the lambs and musical instruments for the kids.
I live the idea of old actors. To have a Greta Garbo, or a Norma Shearer and a Spenser Tracey out there would be fabulous.
I vote for the characters of Annie and secondly I like the font names.
Musical instruments or city names.
