And the winner is…

Wow! Ya’ll have really great button stories. I knew you would. I really enjoyed reading all the comments. My favorite button story was this one by Christina:

When my grandmother passed away, we spent weeks cleaning out her house (one reason I’m not a pack rat). We sold her house and as we were doing the final walk through with the new owner to be, I found a huge jar of old buttons. I snatched it up and the new owner grabbed it from saying it was hers now. Luckily since escrow hadn’t closed, I won. I still have the jar and use the buttons on my items, but only for really special people : )”

Can you imagine? What kind of lunatic would pry your dead grandmother’s button jar from your hands and claim it for their own?!?  I am so happy that it ended with the buttons in the right hands.

And the winner (chosen at random) of the Who’d Got the Button Vintage Mini-Stash is… another Christina!

Serious, what a lunatic, that story turns my stomach, I’m so glad it had a happy ending! I have some buttons that were my great aunts’ and I’ve been parsing them out carefully too!

That is an absolutely APPALLING story. I don’t even have a word for a person like that (and I know lots of nasty names!).

At the time, there were things I was willing to let go, but there was NO WAY she was getting the buttons. : )

I noticed from the posts that a lot of grandmothers kept there buttons in a mason jar as did my mine. Even just seeing an old jar like that brings back good memories of Nana.

You know Christina, I see those Mason jars full of buttons at estate sales from time to time and it breaks my heart. That and the family pictures. I just can’t believe anyone could part with those things. It never occurred to me to buy those precious jars of buttons but I will from now on, you can be sure!

I also have all of my grandmothers costume jewelry, which I kept for years, but never knew what to do with. Now I use the clip on earrings as buttons for scarves and accents for hats : ) The clip on’s are great because they slide right through stitches so I can swap them around.
