A boy and a girl this time, born to Agatha at 2 am this morning. There names are Rosemary and Oregano. I’ll tell you all about it after I get a little sleep.

Two sets of twins! How wonderful! And they are adorable. What good work everyone furry and not are doing. Keep it up and get some rest.

If these last does were bred by the ‘clean up buck’, is it the buck or the doe that determines twinning?
If it’s the buck, I think he needs to move up to first place!!

Good question, Sedress. My understanding is that fraternal twins are determined by the buck. I’m going to check this with Dan and Sara but I’m almost sure. They sent a doe out to bred to a “super-buck” this year and ended up with triplets! Very rare in Angoras.
I agree with you about the clean up buck. He may just be second string because they had enough of his genetics in their herd and wanted to introduce some fresh blood.
BTW- I hope that you all don’t think that just because you can’t make it to Shearing Day means your not welcome anytime. I really love that ya’ll feel like these animals and this farm are yours and the door is always open. I’ll even lend you my guest room when it’s not in use by Pat’s boys or my Mom and sister.

They are so soft and clean looking. What do they do most of the time? Are they like human babies (Eat/Sleep)? Do they wander around and check things out? How old are they before you let them play together?
habitual, they do spend most of their time sleeping and eating, at least for the first few days. But their personalities are all different. For example, Cilantro slept in the kidding pen with his mama for two days and then started sneaking out to check out the bigger kids. He even refused to sleep in the pen; he would curl up in the same spot in a corner and, after returning him to the pen about ten times yesterday, I decided to leave him alone. It worked out well actually, because I needed another kidding pen when Agatha gave birth last night, so I sprung 25 from her pen. Now Cilantro is sleeping right by his mother’s side in the same corner of the barn.
Tarragon started stretching his legs today with a few tentative leaps in the air but he has no desire to go exploring on his own.
Twins and Twins! You do have your hands full. Hope you have gotten some sleep.
